No, not even a cold can stop this rotisserie chicken from spinning in my brain.
Working on this is keeping me sane while I'm stuck in my room all day. So enjoy these quick updates while y'all can.
Anyway, enjoy this shorter POV chapter of our dear sweet Wriothesley.

For a Dragon, Neuvillette is a lot lighter than he looks.

Wriothesley manages to adjust Neuvillette in his hold, carefully, to pull the Omega up and out of the tub into his arms in a bridal carry. Wrapping the Omega in the towel as best that he can. He had to wriggle out from underneath Neuvillette earlier after he emptied the tub, which he ended up doing not too long after the Omega fell asleep on him.

And of course, Wriothesley couldn't just leave Neuvillette asleep in the tub, could he?

Part of him that's oh so curious wonders if Neuvillette would have been fine even if Wriothesley left him in the tub with the water still in it. Hydro Dragon Sovereign and all that. Not even in his wildest dreams, down inside that hellish cell block, would Wriothesley have figured that he'd earn himself a sugar daddy in the form of one of the most powerful elemental beings on this planet.

The Omega in his arms shuffles to nestle himself in Wriothesley's hold more comfortably, huffing a terribly fond noise in his sleep as his face comes to rest between the Alpha's neck and shoulder. His hand slides underneath the neck of the borrowed housecoat Wriothsley wears, palm coming to rest over Wriothesley's heart. Neuvillette's often impassive, stoic face is so much softer in his sleep. Wriothesley finds himself pausing in the hallway as he carries Neuvillette to bed to instinctively nuzzle the top of Neuvillette's head, a low purr building in his throat.

Maybe "sugar daddy" is a little too crass of a way to describe this connection, as Neuvillette puts it, between them.

What's all the more surprising, is that Wriothesley wants it. Wants for everything Neuvillette said and promised him to be true, more than anything. Even after all the shit he's been through, the betrayal at the hands of people who were supposed to love and protect him, and the further abuse he'd suffered down in that damn ring, fighting for his life at times... Wriothesley wants to think that this time it will be different, that Neuvillette is someone he can finally place his all too damaged trust in.

Neuvillette had called him his Chosen, has treated him so kindly and so affectionately. Had taken Wriothesley at his word even when he'd given Neuvillette a name that technically isn't his. Or at least, it wasn't the name the ones who betrayed him most had given Wriothesley.

At least, for all of Wriothesley's snooping and investigations into Neuvillette's home, the Omega seems legit. No amount of rummaging last night or this morning through the Dragon's home and study had unearthed any connections to the trafficking ring or the circle of Fontainian elites that landed the Alpha in the fighting pit in the first place.

Imagine then, Wriothesley's surprise, for the Dragon to be so forthcoming when he had come home early, spilling his dangerous secrets to Wriothesley and imploring the Alpha to let him know his mind. Trusting Wriothesley so easily when the Alpha didn't fully trust him. Trusting Wriothesely far too easily.

Wriothesley envies Neuvillette in that regard.

Wriothesley enters Neuvillette's bedroom as he's ruminating over all of this, approaching the Omega's bed. He tugs the blankets back and sets Neuvillette down before he tucks them up around the Omega's shoulders. He hears a soft whimper as he pulls away, and Neuvillette's face becomes troubled. His hands seek his Alpha and reaches for Wriothesley even in his sleep. Wriothesley pauses for a second, considering before he leans down and presses a good night kiss to Neuvillette's forehead. It eases that furrow that had appeared nearly immediately.
