Chapter 33

Rishab was surrounded by the nurses and other hospital staff members in the hospital. They were happy that he was back. They also wanted to share the problems that they were facing in the hospital.

Rishab said, "I will listen to each one of you, the old as well as the new people working here now. I will listen to your problems and hear suggestions that you have in your mind for the betterment of your department and the hospital as a whole. But for now, I would like to ask everyone to go back to their respective duties."

After everyone left, nurse Priya came and hugged him. She then broke the hug and punched him on his shoulder.
"Ah! What was that?"
She replied, "Punishment for leaving. Rishab.. three years? Hamari yaad nahi aayi? You didn't even think about the hospital or your patients."

Rishab gave a sad smile, "You need to be okay to care for others. I had to go to.. heal myself. Missed your filter coffee though. Kab pila rahi ho?"
"Never. You aren't getting one ever from me. Nurse Priyadarshi S Krishnan is not making one for you ever again. Go na. Leave us and go."
She turned and left

Ryan said, "She loves you and this hospital. She didn't leave even when Raunak cut her salary to half. He wanted her to quit but she didn't."
"Salary..I need to look into that first. Do I have an office?"
Ryan smiled, "Of course. Come, Mr. CEO."

Ryan knocked at the door and entered a big office room. Rishab sat behind a desk that had loads of files strewn on them. A man in his 50s stood beside him, showing something on the laptop.
"Mr. Advani, you can go now. I will call you later." Rishab said, looking at the man standing by him. He nodded and left.
Rishab drank some water. He picked up the phone and ordered coffee. Ryan came and sat in front of him.

Ryan asked, "You look tired. Thik hai?"
"Hell no. I.. these things.. I don't understand these things yaar. Mujhe ECG read karna aata hai, I can diagnose by reading the blood reports but these budget reports, balance sheets read karna.. I don't understand these things."
Ryan laughed, "Tu toh genius tha phir mathematics samjhna mushkil kaise ho gaya tere liye?"

"These aren't just calculations. Profit loss, debit credit, I get them but making decisions based on them is tough. I can understand the parts like enhancing a patient's experience, getting new technology equipment, hiring people, that I can do but making financial decisions, profits.. I wasn't supposed to be CEO. Haan chief bana motive tha but not CEO or Chairman. I am not qualified for this post. I don't have any degree in business or any experience in this line of work. I did accept this as I had to get power to stop Raunak and this was the only post empty."
"Relax! Kar Lega tu. And you will have all the help from people. You will learn it before you will know it."

Rishab stared at him, "I don't have time to learn the art of running the administration of the hospital. I have to get the ED running again and mujhe surgery.. I need to practice everyday. Dr.Srinivas has told me to practice daily before I can touch a real patient."
"Good! I am happy that you're considering doing surgery again. Hm.. so what now?"
Rishab thought for some time, "I have something in my head. Let's see."

"Okay. Let's go for lunch."
Rishab checked his watch, "No, I can't dude. I was supposed to go somewhere. It's late. I will leave now. I will check these later at home. Tu laptop ghar bhejdega?"
Ryan said, "Haan. But tu jaa kahan raha hai? Tu kal bhi jana ke bare mein bol raha hai. Where do you go everyday?"

Rishab stared at him. He didn't reply.
"Bol? Kya hua tere ko? Chup kyu hai?"
The very moment, Rishab's phone rang. He looked at the number.
"It's Dad."
Ryan said, "Raunak jaa ke roya hoga. Utha."

Rishab picked it up and said hello.
"Rishab, can you come down here now?"
Rishab replied, "I have some work. I don't think.."
"Please beta. Come and see me. It is a request."
Rishab was silent.
"I am waiting for you."
