fall 2023

elodies point of view

as football season came to an end and we had cheered at our final home game of the season. i grew more eggar for my trip to anaheim. as fun as the college life was, i was excited to get away from the stress of school and cheer. i was excited to see trevor and i was excited to meet jamie.

i was meeting with ari before our last evening practice of the quarter. ari had become one of my closets friends on the team. she's a junior so she knows the ropes better than i do. shes helped me so much this year already

"hey ari!" i say as i walk toward her.

"hey ellie z you ready for our last practice before break?" she asks as we walk into the gym "just a fair warning, coach loves to push before breaks. she has this idea that none of do anything over break"

"i'm always scared for evening practices they're always so much worse than the mornings" i breath out anxiously knowing i'm already exhausted from our morning practice and the hour run i ran earlier.

"that's cause they are lazy and tired in the morning, hey at least it's only an hour tonight and not two and a half"

"yeah i guess that makes it better" i speak out as we set our stuff down and walk to start stretching on the mats

"okay team! we have some work to do make sure you are at least working out an hour everyday while on break. and making sure you watch what you're eating. see you bright and early after break" coach yells out as everyone is packing up. that was genuinely the worst practice of my life. my legs were practically trembling underneath me as i walk out of the facility. the only thing keeping my legs walking was the idea of my bed and that i would be in sunny warm california this time tomorrow

speaking of california as i'm walking into my dorm i see my phone light up showing trevor's name across my screen

"hey trev" i say answering his call
while also trying lug all of my stuff into my dorm room

"who is this boy in your instagram post and who is this leo in your comments?" he practically yells through the phone

"no hello? how are you?" i ask laughing. he's so stupid

"no! why are you wearing some random kids helmet!?"

"that's leo, be plays football for ou" i answer his question. not really understanding the big deal

"is he your boyfriend?"

"not yet"

"not yet!? what does that mean?"

"i mean we've been going out i guess but he hasn't like asked me to his girlfriend or anything"  i shrug, i don't see anything wrong with this

"so he's not a man got it. is he at least nice to you?"

"trevor! we've only been talking for a little bit. we both know how we feel about each other but it's still early. and yes he is nice to me. keep this up and you won't be seeing me tomorrow!"

"yeah right i know you're dying to leave campus"

"i am. i'm tired of this shit already"
i breath out, chuckling lightly

"k well i'll let you go you better get to bed early for you flight!"

i look down at my watch, seeing the time being 9:30. i didn't even realize practice went so late. they always schedule it to end earlier than it
always does. 1 hour practice my ass

"ok trev whatever you say. love you"

"love you ellie i'll see you tomorrow"

after hanging up, i try to finish packing as fast as i can so i can be in bed at a semi decent time. setting my alarm for 5 am before i forget.

okay guys i have so many plans for this book but i'm so scared they're gonna take FOREVET to get to. so basically gonna cry is the consensus but it's okay hope everyone is having a fab day
