"Okay but do you know how to care for the tree, L bee" Kevin argued
"I grew up with a live tree; I want a live tree!"
"I say we get this little lady a live tree" Nick added
"Little lady! Aww Nicky" I kissed his cheek "My Pop Pop used to call me that"
"Great, now we have to carry a heavy tree!" Bridget added
"Hey it might not be that heavy!" I responded
"Yea sure lemondrop, lets go find one" Joe said rolling his eyes
We searched around and around for what seemed like forever and then BAM I found her!
"This is it! She's the one! And I shall name her Twinkle!"
"are you sure cause Sugarplum and Jingles were in the running" Kevin huffed
"Nope. This is it! And look! NOT HEAVY" I said picking up the tree and sticking my tongue out and middle finger up at Bridget who laughed and flicked me off in return
We hauled the tree into my apartment and set it up with water and tree food. I turned on my Christmas playlist
"AND NOW! WE DECORATE!!!"
"Okay okay relax, Ebs"
"Im just so excited because cookies and hot cocoa and watching THIS CHRISTMAS when we're done"
"Oh boy, you and that Chris Brown!" Bridge said
"Heyyy he's my friend in my head " I defended myself
"Sure,lemondrop"
"Honestly im a bit jealous." Kevin joined in
"Just telling my truth!" I responded
"What happened to Justice for kevin? What about me!?" Kevin whined
We continued playful banter and singing along to the tunes, I took a break in the kitchen to make the cookies and cocoa.
"Hey Sugar whatcha doin?"
"Making two batches of cookies. One for you and one for us."
"Thanks for always looking out for me"
"Of course, you know I care"
"yea...so are you gonna call Taylor?"
"Wow way to kill the mood"
"Im serious, I think you need to call. the closure will be good for you"
"Yea...I will"
"Good. Do you know what you wanna say or do you want to practice?"
"Practicing would probably be good"
"ok. So...Hello?"
"Hey there. Sorry it took so long to reach out"
"Nope im gonna stop you there. Don't apologize to him that invalidates you needing time to process, try again"
"Gah, Nick I don't know!" I said while mixing Nick's batter.
"well, Sarah what do you want to tell him"
"That he hurt me and I don't think we can mend it."
"Then say that. Maybe let him talk first and see what he has to say but if youre sure about not getting back together then don't string him along. Don't give eachother false hope."
"I understand that. Im not...I just don't know all of what I want to say, I love him you know."
