Showing up to school in my new Mercedes,
I'm finally in the "in" crowd.
All eyes on me, yet
I only have eyes for one.
Sitting with the girls at recess,
He joins us. I feel you watching,
I get closer to him.
Do you get jealous?
I miss you so much.
A part of me wishes to run back into your arms,
That warm embrace.
I can't wait anymore.
I have felt the little pricks,
As well as the blood in my coughs.
Scripting my words, I prepare.
My friends offered me a ride,
Well, we planned to go bowling anyway.
On the way to you, they tease me.
Bumping shoulders, they don't know.
As I approach your door,
The butterflies joined the party.
How long has it been since I was here?
You open the door hesitantly,
Yet smiling when your eyes met mine,
Filling me up with warmth.
I hear a horn behind me.
Right, my friends.
I hurriedly said my piece.
I looked at you, yet you weren't there.
Did you not care?
Devastated, I left.
In full bloom now, the flowers are taking over.
Coming, darling, I say.
Putting on the dress my boyfriend gave me,
I couldn't help but worry.
Why haven't the flowers disappeared?
A call came in, your mother.
I picked up, and my walls crashed down.
I ran.
This can't be.
You smiled, like a fool in that bed.
Surrounded by flowers everywhere,
Marigolds, my favourite.
I immediately understood.
Standing over you, I wept.
Throwing myself upon you,
I hugged and cried like never before.
You were filled with flowers by this point,
Yet I didn't care.
Cradling you, I felt something poke me.
A thumb drive.
I plugged it into your computer.
A smile on your lively face.
You spoke loud and clear in the video,
With your I guesses and wells.
Are those letters I see?
I coughed. I might be seeing you sooner than I thought.
Laughing bitterly, I let out a final cough,
A tear.
Darkness overcame me.
Back to you once again,
Feelings now made known
Laying by your side, in our final resting place.
Laying in silence
Next to you
I let the silence draw out between us
Speaking for itself in the ways we couldn't,
Encompassing my love for you
