Night fell quickly, the forest now circling my mind looked a lot more hostile with so little lights. The only sources I could see around me were small sources of fireflies as they danced their ritual like routine around me thankfully as a Pack Back, we are able to see better at night due to being able to glow our eyes even slightly to see our targets then again with my expertise I wasn't really much of a hunter although due to the situation I was finding myself in, I needed to grab something to eat and fast.

I ruffled through various bushes and the grassy hairs of the ground brushed onto my paws, I felt my stomach growing more and more impatient the longer I went without food but that wouldn't be the case for very long as I noticed a large deer with it's head bent down sipping from a nearby pond knowing that this may be I only opportunity to eat and with not even a berry or apple nearby, I began to prep my attack on the deer as I crouched camoflaging myself within the bushes with only by blue eyes shining through while I stared down my prey.

"Just a small piece"  I thought to myself as I also tried to recollect my mothers teachings on hunting, she told me to be aware of your surroundings, use your shadows traverse your target to not spook them and be slow but not too slow that you miss your window. Deers can be very quick and don't stay in one place for too long, I weakly pushed from the bushes, got on all fours and began to prowl closer to the deer trying to make as little noise as I could. The closer I got the bigger deer looked from where I was a few seconds ago but I couldn't let that discourage me as I was within range to pounce "almost there"  I crouched further down and shook my body with my tail rythmically moving left and right and jumped onto the deer sinking my teeth into its rear.

The deer moaned and groaned in agony as it struggled to shake me off, I continued to bite down on the deer at that moment it began to race away with me still attatched to it behind. I was stuck to it as the deer sped off  dashing through the forest jumping and colliding with trees just to get me to let go but I held on, "course I held on I couldn't let go even if I tried " I tried to get my teeth out so I could let go but it had sank too deep into the flesh. The deer still pacing for it's own life eventually collided with a small rock causing it to trip over itself causing me to close my mouth and take me off the deer and rolled onto the ground with a piece of the deer's flesh in my mouth.

I spat out and splutted the newly torn piece out of my mouth as I watched the deer get on it's hoofs and speed off into the dusk night. "well I did say I wanted a small piece" to my dismay, I ate the only thing I could take from the deer and continued on my way whatever the way was I was completely lost and alone in this place. The night began to grow colder by the minute and the winds blowing on the trees made them seem like the leaves upon them were alive and about to take me away, it's hard when you are small as even the most innocent and harmless of things look uncanny and threatening when theres no light around. Wrapping my arms around tightly with my ears dropped just to provide that small bit of warmth to my body would do greatly for me, the wind was stinging my eyes and my fur blew violently with the wind.

"wood" the voice I had heard before at once thought to be my mothers now seemed to different, more raspy and masculine. I scanned the area to see if I could pinpoint if the voice was actually real or if it was all in my head but all I was vast dense trees and a dark blue aroma swarming the forest, a small crunch could be heard as I stepped on some sticks below me, I picked two up and examined both of them, confused as to why the voices just said wood to me and these assortmenet of sticks had appeared before me. Before I could piece together what I was even doing a loud snap, crunch and crash eminated to the far right of me causing me to drop the sticks in shock.

I could vaguely make out what was going on from where I was standing, "is that tree moving on it's own while being sideways?" with my curiosity I darted to get a better understanding of what I was witnessing, the ground lightly shook with each passing second and I could feel the vibrations "an earthquake?"  I thought to myself but that assumption became a reality and that reality wasn't what I had imagined not even crossed my mind, I shuddered as I gasped with my knees beginning to tremble with my paws to my lips "that's not possible, can it be?"  what looked about 5 to 15 feet from where I was standing was a cave followed by the storming stomps of a towering ruby dragon as it placed the logs down with a crash on the ground and entered the cave being comsumed by the darkness eminating from the cave, I etched backwards from the sight of seeing a dragon "that can't be real surely not" I wish I could convince myself that I was dreaming but from everything that had happened today this felt as real as anything backed up by the reality that I saw the deer I was hunting laying unconscious inside the entrance of the cave and I could tell it was my one as it still had the bite marks and piece of flesh missing on it's rear end.

"OK, this is real" a small dark patch collided with the ground, the ground and trees began to soak along with my fur which started off lightly but then began to gush down with such force and as if my body acted on it's own I darted towards the cave on all fours out of the raging storm that was vastly approaching.
