𝐀𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐘𝐀𝐇 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐄𝐃 into the visitation room, a wide grin making its way onto her face as she spotted her mother, Pauline in the back, waving at her with a large grin. The two ladies shared a warm hug, wrapping their arms around each other. It was like Pauline was hugging her younger self. Aaliyah looked just like her.
"Where's Naomi? I thought she was coming." Aaliyah asked, taking a seat before crossing her legs under the table. "She wanted to come, but she was busy." Pauline shortly explained. Aaliyah bit her lip a little, wanting to ask her mother a question but she didn't want to upset her.
"What's on your mind, hon?" Pauline spoke, as she could tell Aaliyah was deep in her thoughts about something. "Do you know a woman, or used to know a woman named Vee? Yvonne Parker to be specific?" Aaliyah responded, as Pauline's brown eyes widened. "How do you know Vee?" Pauline asked, as she hoped it wasn't who she thought it was.
"She's in here too. I've been helping her sell heroin in the prison actually, but I want out of the business." Aaliyah responded, as Pauline's delicate hands started to go cold and a little shaky, remembering the woman that she tried to forget all this years ago, just to find out that she's in the same prison as her youngest daughter.
"Mom, are you okay?" Aaliyah asked, as she observed her mother with a concerned expression. "Yes, I'm fine." Pauline responded quickly, putting on a fake smile, which Aaliyah always believed. Pauline had to fake smile a lot when Aaliyah and Naomi were growing up. Even the days where she felt like giving up on life itself, she always remembered to act happy in front of her two daughters so they wouldn't worry.
The two ladies decided to change the topic and talk about other things until their time together was up. It was obvious Pauline wasn't comfortable talking about Vee.

"𝐕𝐄𝐄? can I speak with you real quick?" Aaliyah spoke, as she leaned against the entrance of Vee's cube. Vee looked up from her book, with a smirk. "Yes?"
"I been thinkin', I want out of the business." Aaliyah says, fiddling with the cross part of her cross necklace. Vee's facial expression changes, and it almost makes Aaliyah feel like her heart is going to fall out of her ass. "This is about Janae, isn't it?" Vee asks straightforwardly, not breaking eye contact with Aaliyah, causing the other girl to gulp. "No no, of course not. It's just... I don't want to do this anymore. It's nothing personal, it's just.. yeah." Aaliyah explains, stuttering a little over her words as the older woman's intense glare makes her nervous and uncomfortable.
"Ok, then." Vee spoke sternly. The older woman looked very angry, but it was like she was trying to hide it. Aaliyah leaves Vee's cell, a little afraid. Aaliyah wasn't afraid of telling Vee she wanted out of the business, she was more afraid that her mother was so uncomfortable around the topic of Vee that they had to change the topic, and she was a little creeped out that Vee even knew her mother in the first place.

𝐏𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐘 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐀 long twig of her hooch, before placing it back in the place she usually hides it. Poussey spots Janae selling a cigarette to a random inmate, feeling her blood boil as she watches. Poussey places her books down, before kicking the vacuum off, causing Janae to turn around, a nervous look on her face. "So much for learning your lesson, huh?" Poussey retorted.
"And what lesson is that?" Janae scoffed lightly, a little annoyed by Poussey's attempt at trying to knock some sense into her.
"I don't know, don't associate with the criminal element?"
"Girl, I am the criminal element, and so are you last time I checked."
"You know what I mean."
"Man, don't start this again."
"Yo, she got you thrown in the SHU." Poussey spat, trying her hardest to knock some sense into Janae but it seemed the younger girl was more stubborn than she thought. "That wasn't her, it was this place coming down on me like it's done before, and it'll do it again." Janae spoke, as Poussey looked appalled on how stubborn Janae really was.
"Why can't you see that Vee doesn't give a shit about y'all? Man, even yo girl, Aaliyah dropped out, because she realized Vee only cares about herself." Poussey retorted. Janae looked away for a few seconds, gathering her thoughts for a few seconds before responding. "Well that's her decision." Janae responded, ignoring the slight feeling of her heart fluttering at the mention of Aaliyah.
There was some silence for a few seconds before Janae spoke again.
"Something's gonna fuck you, y'know? The system, the man, Vee. Can't do nothin' bout it. At least Vee gives you back ten percent." Janae shrugged.
"She took my friend." Poussey murmured.
Janae scoffed lightly. "And you gonna fight her forever? Stop making things so hard for yourself." Janae spoke, before turning the vacuum back on and continuing with what she was doing, leaving Poussey alone with her thoughts. Guess Vee's manipulation had worked on Janae too.
