𝐀𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐘𝐀𝐇 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 the visitation room, expecting to see her mother, but she saw a tall black, middle-aged man instead waiting for her. "Dad? What the fuck are you doing here?" Aaliyah spat, as she felt her blood boiling by just seeing his face.

"Watch that mouth, young lady. I am still your father." Delroy spoke sternly, his thick Jamaican accent clear in his voice.

Aaliyah sat down, a sour look on her face. "I was supposed to see my mother, y'know the parent that actually stuck around. Why are you here? You're not on my visitation list." Aaliyah retorted, crossing her arms.

"Your mother let me take her spot for this weekend. I wanted to see how my daughter was doing." Delroy responded, pausing before continuing. "Never in my life would I think I would be visiting you in prison. I don't understand what went wrong with you. You were such a bright little girl, and now you're in here with cold-hearted prisoners."

Aaliyah stared at him in disbelief. She couldn't believe he had the audacity to visit her in prison and talk to her like she was some disappointment. Aaliyah stood up from her chair.  "You just now decide to see how I'm doing after fourteen years?!" Aaliyah snapped, raising her voice a little.

"Do not raise your voice at me, young lady.  Sit down, now." Delroy demanded, causing Aaliyah to sit back down. It may have been a while since she seen him, but he somehow still had the power to make her listen to him.

"I want you to know I'm very disappointed in you. You're twenty-two years old, Aaliyah. You should be in medical school by now. Instead, you're in trouble with the law." Aaliyah didn't respond, her head down. She knew she shouldn't be in prison at her young age, but she tried not to think about it. To be reminded of it by someone who used to be so proud of her was like a punch to the gut. "You used to be my golden child. Someone I was proud of. Now I'm ashamed of you." Delroy lectured, not caring how much his words stinged.

A single tear made its way down Aaliyah's face, as she listened to her father's harsh words. "Do you know how embarrassing it is to be your father, right now? Now Naomi is doing better than you are."

As soon as he compared her to Naomi. Aaliyah stood up, slamming her hand against the table. "That's what you came here for? Just to tell me how much of a disappointment I am? Well, fuck you! And the rest of your kids. I hope you drop fucking dead!" Aaliyah shouts, as she aggressively pushes the table towards him, causing an CO to rush over. Aaliyah is rushed out of the visitation room, as she cusses her 'father' out the entire time.  Her outburst drew attention, but she didn't seem to care.

Delroy sits there in silence, before he finally decides to get up and leave.  It's obvious his presence just fucked up Aaliyah's entire day, maybe her entire week.

𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 down her soft cheeks, she walked wherever her feet took her. To no one's surprise, her feet led her to Janae's cell, hoping she would be there.

Lucky for her, Janae was right there.

As soon as the taller girl spotted Aaliyah crying, her face contorted with concern and confusion. "Al, what's goin' on, you good?" Before Aaliyah could answer, she just buried her face int Janae's chest, bawling her eyes out. Janae had no idea what was going on, as she just awkwardly wrapped her arms around the smaller girl, her hand rubbing the back of her head.

Aaliyah's tears wet Janae's shirt a little bit, but that didn't seem to matter to her. Aaliyah finally lifted her head up, looking up at Janae, her eyes puffy and red from crying.

"You gonna tell me what's wrong?" Janae asked, earning a silent nod from Aaliyah. "C'mere then." Janae spoke, wrapping an arm around Aaliyah's shoulder and leading her to her bed.

No matter how much she tried to get rid of her feelings for the smaller girl, she just couldn't. And whoever made her cry like that, she wanted to kill them.

Aaliyah ended up laying her head in Janae's lap, as Janae played with her hair. "My dad came to visit me today, unexpectedly. For some reason, my mom let him take her spot for today." Aaliyah spoke, her voice cracked a little from just bawling her eyes not too long ago.

Janae nodded, listening intensely to the smaller girl. "And?" Janae spoke, wanting her to continue. "And he said some really fucked up shit to me, he said he didn't understand what went wrong with me, how he's disappointed, and how embarrassed and ashamed he is to be my father." Aaliyah explained, starting to cry again but she stopped herself, not wanting to appear weaker than she already did.

Janae felt a certain anger boil inside her.  She knew what it was like for a parent to degrade you and make you feel like shit. Her hand ran through Aaliyah's hair soothingly, as Aaliyah continued. "He kept comparing me to my sister, and how she's doing so much better than me now. And I snapped. I yelled at him, told him I hoped he dropped dead, and pushed a table towards him. Then I got kicked out of the visitation room, earned a shot, lost visitation for a month but I guess it was sorta worth it to tell him off for once." Aaliyah mumbled, leaning into Janae's touch.

"He's a piece of shit." Janae fumed. It pissed her the fuck off, knowing someone she loved deeply was being spoken to so badly, and that she couldn't do anything about it other than comfort Aaliyah.

"But he's my dad. Maybe I deserve this." Aaliyah mumbled, causing Janae's heart to break a little. Did Aaliyah really think so little of herself that she thought she deserved to be spoken to like that? "No, you don't. You don't deserve that shit at all, Aaliyah. You're so fucking beautiful and sweet." Janae assured, holding the smaller girl's face in her hands as Aaliyah was now sitting up.

Aaliyah looked up at her, her heart fluttering from Janae's sweet words. Sure, Janae was a tough woman, but she loved Aaliyah to death.

Janae kissed her gently on the forehead, before pulling the smaller girl closer to herself.

"I love you." Janae whispered. "What?" Aaliyah responded, not hearing a thing she said.

"Nothing, don't worry about it."
