𝐕𝐄𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄 for a while now, and it seemed that no one else missed her but Suzanne. When Vee first went missing, she didn't take it very well. She couldn't understand that Vee was manipulating her the entire time and didn't give a shit about her or what would happen to her if her plan to frame her for the Red situation succeeded.

"Look, who knows anything right?" Poussey spoke. "All I'm saying is, they did some kind of voodoo spell on Vee, and, boom, bitch was gone."

Suzanne aggressively slammed her fists on the table at the mention of Vee, startling everyone. "Vee... is fine." She blinked. Aaliyah couldn't understand why Suzanne loved Vee so much, because honestly, she thought Vee was a fucking menace to society.

"Yo, okay." Cindy sighed, obviously tired of having to hear about Vee from Suzanne for the past week. Everyone just wanted to forget about Vee, but Suzanne was making that absolutely impossible. "I cannot go through this again. Suzanne... you throw that tray, or anything on it, we dog-pilin' on you til you're flat. Agree to disagree, and let's get on with our lives."

"Agree to disagree." Suzanne grinned from ear to ear, as Aaliyah prayed this woman would finally calm down.

"Rhymes with, let it be."

𝐀𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐘𝐀𝐇 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐘 𝐏𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 a cherry flavored lollipop into her mouth, a sour look on her face as her other hand rested on her hip. Her mother was supposed to visit her today, but she decided to spend time with her other daughter back in Brooklyn that is not incarcerated. Since she didn't have anything else to do, she help set up for Mother's Day, and to also watch the little kids throw ping pong balls into little cups to win a prize or something.

It sucked but she couldn't blame her mother. Who would want to spend their Mother's Day at a prison?

"You missed! Next!" Cindy exclaimed. "Loser.", causing Aaliyah to turn her head to chuckle, but Poussey didn't seem to find it funny.

Poussey glared at Cindy. "Why you being so fuckin' mean, man? They're kids."

"Number one, they miss, mo' candy for me." Cindy replied. "And number two, I don't like kids." Aaliyah couldn't understand how anybody could hate kids; she loved them. After Cindy's response, there was a little silence for a while until Cindy said something else. "I don't like mamas, neither, for that matter. Mine thinks I'm shit."

"Well, fuck her. I'm done with mama." Taystee agreed. "I'm done with stand-ins for mamas. I'm parent-free and proud."

"Yeah, well, I liked my moms." Poussey muttered to herself, earning a weird look from Taystee and Cindy. Aaliyah felt horrible that Poussey would have to deal with this holiday. She knew Taystee and Cindy had their own problems with mothers, but she wished they would have been a little more sensitive about it, especially when Poussey's mother was now deceased.

𝐉𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐃, her facial expression clearly showing that she was not happy at all. Her silence was interrupted by a knock on her cell wall. Her face lit up a little as soon as she saw Aaliyah. "You good? I haven't seen you all day." Aaliyah spoke softly, sitting next to Janae as Janae scooted over, making space for the shorter girl. "Yeah, I'm good. Talked to my mom today, it didn't go well." Janae replied, rubbing the back of her neck.

"What happened?" Aaliyah asked, her tone soft and gentle as her soft hand brushed over Janae's, sending chills down the taller girl's spine. Something about Aaliyah just made Janae want to tell her everything.

Janae let out a heavy sigh, before responding. "My mom said all kinds of shit to me, talking about some I could've been a successful track star if I didn't run off with that boy. She started calling me names and shit." Janae spoke, starting to rant. Aaliyah listened to Janae's rant with a straight face, feeling sympathetic for the taller girl, as it seemed the lecture from her mother really fucked up her day. "I just wish she wouldn't lecture me every time she sees me, which is barely. I've been in here for a little while now, and this is just the third time she seen me all these months." Janae scoffed, "At least she comes to see me, my dad doesn't even visit at all. Apparently, he's too 'disappointed' to come see his only daughter."

A frown made its way onto Aaliyah's soft lips. "I'm sorry about that." Aaliyah spoke softly, as she gave Janae a little hug, her arms wrapped around her neck as the soft scent of cocoa butter and vanilla filled Janae's nostrils as the shorter girl embraced her. "Damn, you smell good." Janae muttered to herself, as it came out louder than intended. Aaliyah lifted her head up to look at her, and Janae's brown eyes suddenly widened as she realized what just came out of her mouth. "Shit, sorry I ain't mean to-" Janae began to apologize, but she was cut off by Aaliyah. "Nah, it's all good, you smell good too." Aaliyah assured with a chuckle, finding the taller girl's reaction cute.

The two finally pulled away from each other. "I gotta go back to my bunk, talk to you later?" Aaliyah says, earning a simple nod from Janae in response. Janae wanted Aaliyah to stay but she didn't want to seem desperate.
