"Karai, you have failed me again."

Your head tilted just enough to look at your sister from your kneeled down position, seeing fear flash through her eyes at your father's words.

She really shouldn't look so surprised.

She should've known the consequences that would follow her stupid actions. But she just thought that everything was a game.

Well, if it was, she had definitely lost.

She was supposed to kill those turtles. Not mess around and become friends with one of them. It really baffled you sometimes, how little she thought things through. Maybe it seemed fun, but in your father's eyes, it may as well be treason.

"You had one job. To eliminate Hamato Yoshi's so called sons. And you have let them go, time and time again."

Her head shot up at that, pleadingly looking at the masked man in front of you both, but trying to mask the look in her eyes with her usual cockiness.

"That's not true! They escaped!"

You lifted your head enough to see your father's reaction, and watched as he narrowed his eyes at her, obviously seeing right through her lie.

"I highly doubt that."

Then, as if she hadn't learned a thing over the years, she smirked at him and said, "Why? They escaped from you."

Your head dropped before he slammed his fist down, already anticipating how he'd react to your sister's disrespect.

"Enough!"

His voice almost shook the room, and Karai's head dropped like yours had, regret showing on her face at her challenging words.

"I have had enough of your insubordination and incompetence." He stood from his throne, taking heavy steps towards her, the metal of his armor clanking along.

"I am sending you back to Japan."

Her head shot back up, eyes wide and mouth agape.

"Wha-"

"(Y/n) will be taking over your mission, while you go back to training. I trust that she will be able to handle the job." He looked at you during the last sentence, and you nodded, face void of emotion.

"Yes father."

Karai's response came a few seconds later, hesitance and resentment audible in her tone as she repeated your words slowly.

"Good. You are dismissed."

With those words, you and your sister both stood and did a quick bow, before quickly exiting the large room. Once outside, she let her thoughts on the matter out, teeth gritted as she walked beside you.

"I can't believe this. I've only been on the mission for a couple of months! He's such a-" You slapped a hand over her mouth, not wanting her to be in more trouble than she already was by bad mouthing Shredder.

"Watch your words. One of those goons will rat you out in a heartbeat." She rolled her eyes as you pulled your hand back. "And apparently a couple months was too long. You shouldn't have been messing around. You had plenty of opportunities to kill them, but you got infatuated with the blue one."
