March–April
The next day at school, Peter ran up to me. "I know what you can write your article about," he told me.
"Really?" I asked. "What?"
"Well, you know that little thing that happened between Iron Man and Captain America a while ago?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, I know the whole story about that. Not to mention the Winter Soldier's origin story. And it's pretty interesting."
On April 2nd, I headed into the Daily Bugle. "Do you have an appointment?" the woman at the front desk asked me.
"Sort of," I told her. "Mr Jameson is expecting me. I'm Y/n Thompson."
"Ahh yes. Go ahead. He's just in his office."
I nodded and found it with ease. When I opened the door, I saw him sitting at his desk.
"Ahh! Miss Thompson! Did you really do it?" he asked.
I sighed. "I was close, sir. But I couldn't figure it out. But, I do have a very interesting story here. It's about what happened with the Avengers in Germany, and the Winter Soldier's origin story. I was hoping you'd still look it over and decide."
The article I wrote was paired with a really good picture of the Winter Soldier that Peter had been able to get for me.
After he read it over, he smiled up at me. "You know what, kid? I'm disappointed you couldn't get the Spiderman story. But this is some top-level shit. I think you have some real potential here. I'd like to give you the internship."
"Thank you, sir!" I exclaimed. "When do I start?"
"Monday. 4 o'clock. Sound good?"
"That's great! Thank you!"
He stood up and shook my hand. "Now get out of my office."
I nodded and rushed out.
"I'm the new intern!" I exclaimed to the woman at the front desk. I ran out of there and into my car where my boyfriend was sitting in the front seat, and Aiden was sitting in the back.
"How'd it go?" Peter asked, giving me a peck on the lips when I got in. "I'm guessing by the grin on your face that you got it?"
"I did! I got it!"
The boys both cheered.
"Thank you for the idea, Peter!"
"Of course! But he'd have to be stupid not to choose you. You're an amazing writer."
I grinned and drove us back to my place. Eugene was having a party that night, and for once, I actually felt like partying.
