I swing through the city, heading to my job. I work for a man called Otto Octavius. He might not have spider powers like me, but I know he's going to make a bigger impact on this world than I ever will.

As I'm going towards work, my phone rings. I answer the phone, not bothering to check who it is.

" Parker! Where are you? The grant committee will be here soon and we still haven't run a diagnostics!" The voice of my boss is heard.

" Sorry, traffic is crazy. I'm only a few blocks away." I inform him, making him sigh as I am trying not to swing through a flock of pigeons.

" This tardiness is becoming a pattern Parker. I'll run the diagnostics myself." He sighs before killing the line.

" No- Wait!" I protest but it's no use, he's not there.

This made me pick up my pace. While I wouldn't normally be too concerned if he was just checking the motion of the prosthetics, but he's running a diagnostics on the whole thing, meaning it's connected to his brain.

So many thing could go wrong. While there are some small effects that could happen like an irregularity of brain chemicals, it could also go wrong like a brain bleed, brain swelling, paralysis, memory loss, dementia. And they are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Now that I think about it, maybe that's why we don't have many investors. Having the top story in New York be someone having a deadly brain injury from a product you invested in isn't great publicity. That's why it's so important that we have working products for the grant committee. If we don't get this grant, we're done. Neither of us have the money to pay for the research and the materials we are going to need. Sure, I could always ask Tony, and I know he would help in a heartbeat, but if we're doing this, it's gonna be on our terms.

I'm getting closer to the lab now, hopefully just in time to stop doc from doing something stupid and getting himself killed. I feel like I've done enough of that for everyone for my lifetime.

I land on the roof, rushing over to the bag of clothes I have webbed to the wall. I quickly pull off my mask, taking my clothes out of the bag and putting them on over my suit as I make my way to the entrance, throwing my bag at the wall and shooting a web at it as I adjust the collar on my lab coat.

I make my way to the entrance of the lab, opening open the door to the small room.

" I'm sorry I'm late-"

I immediately shut up as my eyes land on Doc, him using the four-arm prosthetic perfectly. He moves one of the arms towards the two mugs of hot coffee I'm guessing he just made.

The claw of the arms opens up and it picks up the coffee cup. He then moves the arm holding the coffee towards me and I take it by the handle, smiling widely at my creation coming to life. He moves the arm back while simultaneously moving another towards a bucket to his right. The arm picks up a few tennis balls, throwing them towards the other arms and I gasp. Doc then looks at me, a smile as big as mine planted on my face as we are both in awe.

Just then, the suit starts to spark, the arms falling limp as it looks like he's being electrocuted. I quickly rush across the lab, smacking the emergency power-down button before I make my way over and help Doc disconnect the prosthetic limbs.

" And this is why we don't run a diagnostics unsupervised." I scold him like a mom.

I help him off the floor and onto one of the office chairs, helping him sit down and then going over to grab the other cup of coffee and hand it to him. He takes a sip of the coffee, breathing heavily a bit.

" Parker..." He manages to say.

" Doc?" I question worriedly.

" We just had- the biggest break through of my career!" He cheers, making me let out a laugh and shake my head as I now know he's ok.
