So much for keeping their relationship a secret. After Lauren found out about Hannah and Alice, she asked the other dorm thirty-eight girls about it, and they were all shocked to hear of their relationship. Minus Chelsea, of course. Chelsea always knows everything–the gossip.
It's the fifteenth of January and Hannah feels better than ever. She's totally settled into her new life at the home, and better yet, she's out of the suicide watch.
Alice is leading her down the hill and through the garden to the small secluded area with four big cabins. She had told Lauren that they were going berry picking, but that wasn't true. Alice had something else in mind, and complete privacy was required for the occasion.
"So, have you been in the cabins?" Hannah asks, clueless as to what is going on.
"Yeah. They're used in the summer, so we'll definitely be coming back. We have outdoor movie nights and campfires during the summer."
"Oh, like summer camp!"
"Exactly," Alice replies, holding Hannah's hand as she climbs over a big rock. "There's the cabins. Which one feels lucky?"
Hannah looks at the four cabins and hums before deciding, "Four."
"Four it is... Let's go inside."
"Are we really allowed to go inside?"
"I would not get you in trouble," Alice laughs as she approaches the big wooden door.
"Mm... You hijacked a phone for me," Hannah says.
"And I succeeded. You weren't in trouble... No one ever knew it was me. Besides, the cabins are allowed to be used. Me and the girls used to come down here a lot. They're lazy and don't wanna walk so they don't do it much anymore."
"Oh."
Alice opens the door and walks inside. Dry, hot air hits her and Hannah in the face. She sighs and turns on the light, and then a fan, before shutting the door.
"Yeah, so there's a radio and a TV and a phone. A bathroom over there... that's a storage room where we put our clothes and toothbrushes and whatnot whenever we have camp days."
Hannah smiles, "This is really cool."
"It is... So, uh... Wanna sit?" Alice motions toward the bottom bunk of the bed furthest from the door.
"Yeah, sure."
Hannah and Alice sit down at the bed. Alice seems tense, though Hannah can't tell why. That is, until Alice touches her thigh.
"So, um... You can say no, babe... but I wanted to bring up the possibility of... being with you."
Hannah tilts her head to the side, "Being with me?"
Alice sighs, "Like... in that way."
...
Hannah's eyes widen and her heart sinks. Immediately, she's brought back to the time she was hurt in her past. She still has vivid memories of that day, and it was the worst thing that has ever happened to her. Still, she doesn't think that Alice is a threat. Alice is anything but violent.
Hannah leans her head on Alice's shoulder, "But I have never... Except–"
"Yeah, I know," Alice says. "I had a feeling. I'm so sorry."
"Yeah..."
"So, how do you feel?"
Hannah sighs shakily, "You're safe."
Alice smiles, "I'm safe. You'll always be safe with me, love."
"...Then, um... I'd like to give it a try."
