The home is hosting a party for all of the residents to hang out at. Hannah is in the dorm getting ready, but she can see out of the corner of her eye that Alice is laying in bed. She frowns–she wishes Alice would talk to her, but she hasn't said a word to her.
Hannah takes off her shirt to put on her dress, and even that doesn't get Alice's attention. She sighs and puts her dress on before getting out her makeup bag.
"Alice," Hannah says. "I want to talk to you."
"..."
"We're not broken up. I don't care what you say. I know you were just angry with me and you're just upset."
"You're leaving," Alice says quietly, her voice raspy.
"You don't know that, Alice!" Hannah raises her voice slightly. "You are so final about this. I never said I'm one hundred percent leaving. It was you who made it a big fight."
"We all know you wanna leave."
"I wasn't sure, but if you're going to keep treating me this way then I will leave!"
"Fine," Alice rolls onto her side. "I don't care."
Hannah crosses her arms, "I wish you would talk to me about this like an adult."
"I don't have to. You're leaving."
"You broke up with me so why do you care?"
Alice groans, "I don't want to be broken up but I don't think long distance relationships work."
Hannah sighs, "I hate that you aren't even willing to try. I don't want to be without you. I can't... I can't just forget everything we've been through together. All of our memories would be forgotten if you don't stay with me."
"Long distance relationships are stupid. I'm not allowed access to a phone. We couldn't call. We couldn't text. We're not going to write letters."
"Why not?!"
"Hannah, that's fucking stupid," Alice snaps. "What are you not understanding? You're not using your brain lately and it's getting on my last nerve."
Hannah backs up and fidgets with her hands, upset by the tone Alice has taken on. She can't stop the tears from welling in her eyes as she makes her way into the bathroom. She looks in the mirror at her half finished makeup, and she considers taking it off.
Why go to the party? She obviously doesn't have a date.
She's about to wipe off her makeup when there is a knock on the door. She sighs shakily and opens it, tensing up when Alice is standing there.
"I'm sorry," Alice says in a soft tone, her expression no longer angry. "I shouldn't have said that."
Hannah wipes her tears, looking down at her feet. She feels Alice place her hands on her waist, and she almost collapses into them. She's missed the feeling of Alice's touch, and all she wants is to get it back.
Not only her touch, but her words. Hannah misses being comforted by Alice, hanging out with Alice... Everything about her. And being broken up with is one of the most painful things she's ever gone through.
"I'm sorry," Alice sighs. "I didn't mean it. I... I didn't mean any of it. I'm just really upset lately. I really hate the idea of you leaving me, but you have to understand it's because I... I'm in love with you. I'm really, really in love with you. I don't want to live without seeing your face every day, baby."
At the pet name, Hannah's heart squeezes–she's wanted Alice to say that word so badly. She's still upset about everything that has happened, of course, but all she wants to do is surrender to Alice's affection.
