Four months later

Ivie's POV

She stood resting on the kitchen island as she prepared dinner, she had successfully laid David to sleep, her aunt wasn't back from work yet,  she had refused her taking him to work today,  she had wanted to spend some  alone time with her boy.

Her baby was growing so fast, his nightly disturbances has reduced drastically,  she watched with love how he has gradually became a source of joy to both her and aunt Maris.

Speaking of aunt Maris and David, those two are so fond of each other and almost inseparable,  she took him wherever she went including work then  drops him  off at the creach to pick him up at the close of work, at home he always want to be with her.

She had playfully  complained how he has stolen her place in her life, and her aunt had told her if she was just finding out...lol.

The rate at which the pampering is going erh she knows for sure he son would grow up  a spoilt child, it no news how grandparents pamper their grand kids and David was not left out, she goes shopping for him on a regular basis, buys him lot of toys some of which he won't be needing at this stage.

She open the boiling pot and added some more water to the soup and stirred carefully before placing the spoon aside to wait a few more minutes for it to be ready.

Her mind went flashed back on the day James had visited, after a week he had ceased all communication with her and all her efforts to get through him proved abortive. She felt betrayed once more what was she thinking anyway.

Her aunt had informed her that she would be attending a friend's father's burial ceremony at the neighbouring town, she saw it as a perfect opportunity to in invite James over so he could at least bond with his son pending his department  the following evening.

She could vividly remember how happy and playful David was in his father arms his baby babbles could be heard all over the house, the two had catch on like long lost friend who recently got reconnected and he even went as far as regetting her  when she attempted carrying him..

Little betrayer" she thought as she giggled.

She saw the way he fed him, change his diaper and dressed him up so affectionately after taking a light bath, she   conclude without a doubt that he would have been indeed a good dad if situations were to be different.

When  it was time to leave, they were both sad but what can a girl do? She just pleaded with him not to abandon her the second time.

Thinking about it now she felt foolish and gullible, in fact she  regretted her actions or giving him a benefit of doubt now it hurts more than it already was.

She sighed tiredly, she would never had imagined that at seventeen  she would be a mother life was indeed unpredictable she had felt her whole world crashing before her very eyes but her aunt  has been a rock and a shoulder to lean on.

She would have to resume going to lectures by September  to prepare  for the next forthcoming UTME(UNIFIED TETIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION) that will enable her gain admission into the university, how she was going to cope with that and a child is what she don't know but somehow is feels at ease because she trust her aunt is going to be of great help. God bless aunt Maris indeed what would have become of her if she was still under her father's roof or if her mother was to be alive, she would have been so disappointed. She bowed her head on the kitchen island, this was way harder" she thought as cried silently.

David POV

It been weeks since he visited Benin city and ever since he came back he felt a bit light at least he no longer felt guilty  like he used to. His father had founded out he went to Benin, he was so mad at him and even went as far as seizing his gadgets, cutting off his allowances, withdrawing all access he has  to money, and having him grounded till the day he would be leaving Nigeria for good. His mom as usual didn't interfere with any of this, she had sworn never to be part of it, she still maintained her stands that  Ivie was treated unjustly and their son should be made to bear the brunt of his mistake.
