The next day was rainy and gloomy, with no sun to be seen as the dark grey clouds hovered over the city like a dark blanket. It felt like the world knew how Adrien felt and reflected it onto the city itself, or to make Adrien feel worse than he already did. Either way, it didn't help him feel better about the situation with Marinette he was dealing with. He couldn't even have a regular conversation with her, let alone confess his feelings for her. She probably hated him and he couldn't figure out why. He sat down in his seat beside Nino and saw Marinette was running late again, though it wasn't unusual, yet made him worried all the same.

Was she late because there was an akuma? Was she late because she had gotten hurt? The anxiety of not knowing where she was caused him to worry.

"Calm down Adrien, she's ladybug. She can handle herself. She is smart, she wouldn't rush into a battle without you. You're a team. You need to focus on your classwork." Adrien took in a deep breath before getting out his homework that he had completed before going to Marinette's house and waited for the teacher to start class.

Just as the door was getting ready to close, he heard footsteps running down the hall. Adrien watched as Chloe stood up and walked over to the door. Chloe slammed the door shut and Marinette ran right into the door, falling backwards from the momentum. A sudden anger shot through him as Adrien jumped up to run to Marinette's side. Adrien opened the door to see Marinette rubbing her face and saw a skid mark on her forehead, along with a few scratches where she had fallen backwards.

"Miss Bustier? I'm going to take Marinette to the nurse." Adrien yelled, seeing the teacher nod as everyone gave Chloe angered glares.

"Are you alright Marinette?" Adrien said, helping Marinette up.

"Uh.. me? Oh! Yeah just fine." Marinette laughed nervously, as she realized Adrien had held her hand to help her up.

Adrien gave her a doubtful look and touched her forehead. He saw her flinch and jump back.

"You're fine, huh? Come on, let's go to the nurse." Adrien smiled, gripping her hand tighter and pulling her gently toward the nurse. They made their way down the steps and the nurse's office was a few feet in front of them when Adrien stopped.

He turned around and looked down at the pink faced girl. He breathed in and collected his thoughts. His heart seemed to beat faster as he mentally prepared himself.

"Do you... not like hanging out with me? You seem distant towards me?" Adrien said, letting go of Marinette's hand to scratch his neck nervously.

He could tell the question took her by surprise and she flailed her arms in disagreement.

"No No No! It's not that at all. It's just... I don't want to uh... say something stupid to make us not be friends anymore..." Marinette looked away.

"So... you do like me?" Adrien smiled.

"Like you? Ha no.. I mean yes! I like you like I like Nino and Alya. As a couple... a couple of good friends!" Marinette stumbled over her words and it seemed like her face got two times more red with each word.

"It's ok Marinette, you can talk to me like anyone else. I could never be mad at you." Adrien smiled, wondering if this little hint was too obvious.

A few seconds and nothing was said, so they both entered the nurse's office and got her bandaged up. The nurse gave them some space to talk and disappeared into another room.

"Aren't you missing class?" Marinette asked fiddling with her fingers.

"I'm already good at what she is teaching right now anyways. Also, shouldn't you be worried about you missing class? Why were you so late today?" Adrien said, sitting beside her on the bed.

It was like last night, but he wasn't Chat noir this time. They were actually having a normal conversation and his heart warmed from the thoughts.

"I... overslept." Marinette confessed.

"Didn't sleep well?"

"I was up thinking about what a friend told me. He needs advice about love and crushes but I don't think I have any advice to give. He seemed pretty worried or concerned?" Marinette bit her lip, trying to think about how to word her sentences.

Adrien sighed. Knowing fully well that she was up worrying about the conversation with her and Chat noir.

"Adrien?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you..."

A few seconds passed as he stared at Marinette. His hands began to sweat and he could feel the tightness in his throat once again wanting to close up and not speak.

Before he had the chance to overcome those fears and confessions a rumble that shook the school could be felt and Adrien jumped up off of the bed.

"Stay here. I'll go see what's going on."

Adrien wanted to stay with Marinette to see if she would wait to transform but that was selfish to waste time when people were being harmed from hawkmoth if it were another akuma. And just as he predicted. Another person was akumarized and spreading havoc in the city of Paris.

Ladybug showed up a few seconds after Chat noir and they both didn't waste any time defeating it. One lucky charm and cataclysm later...the akumarized victim was back to normal.

"Ladybug?" Chat said after fist bumping his partner, seeing a flash of Marinette as he looked at her.

"Yes kitty?"

"You have a scratch on your forehead. Did you get hurt in battle?" He motioned to her forehead mark that she had gotten as Marinette.

"Oh! I guess I must have gotten hit at some point. Clumsy me!" She laughed nervously.

Her earrings beeped and she pulled out her yo-yo. But before leaving chat noir called out her name.

"Be careful. Princess" he finally yelled.

As she zipped away he could see her turn her head in shock but didn't return. Chat looked down at his feet, wondering if it was right to confess to know or not.
