i'm backkkk 🥰‼️

My eyes felt heavy as I opened them slowly, adjusting to the light coming in from my window. I got home late from work, yet another hard-hitting case. I shoveled from the bathroom to my apartment lobby to pick up a package I ordered.

"Miss Vera?" I turned around to a worker in uniform, holding a small paper bag.

"Oh I'm sorry, hello," I apologized for my messed up state and the dark red robe I had on.

"Someone dropped this off at the front desk," She handed me the bag and walked away after telling me to have a good day. I smiled, Reid was probably near my apartment building. I took my package before walking back up, trying to peak into the taped-up bag.

"Gosh why did he make it so hard to open, damn," I groaned under my breath as I used a clean knife to slice through the top. What I saw inside made my heart drop, and my hands sweated as I dropped the bag on the floor, shaking from terror before sliding down the wall, trying to control my breathing.

"Spencer," I barely managed to get out as I clicked on his contact in my phone.

"Vera? Are you okay?" His worried tone came from the phone.

"Some-someone sent me," I paused, not being able to speak well enough, "Emilia's face," as I said that I couldn't hold the vomit any longer and ran to my sink, getting any food that was in my system out.

"What? Vera, where are you? are you safe? I'll call the team right now," Reid panicked, asking me a million questions.

"Send someone please," I begged, as I took a minute.

"Can you explain what you mean by face?" He asked carefully.

"Her face Reid," I cried, looking quite nasty as the throw-up on my lips mixed with the tears.

"hey hey we'll figure everything out okay," He tried his best to calm me. My body seemed to get warmer, as a reaction to this sudden change in emotions.

"Are you at your place?" Reid questioned, to which I nodded before saying an audible reply, "Okay I need you to grab your gun and go in your room or bathroom and stay there until I or anyone from the team gets there, can you do that for me, Vera?" He ordered as I heard him get into his car and start it.

"Yeah okay," I whispered wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, not daring to look in the direction of the bag before slowly walking toward my room where I kept the gun. I slowly sat on the ground shaking.

"I need to call everyone else but please just stay in the room okay, I'll be there soon love," Reid ended the call, making me focus on the nickname for a few seconds before I remembered it again.

"Vera please I know this is really hard but can you explain everything one more time?" Hotch spoke as he squatted down in front of me, speaking as softly as someone like him possibly could.

"Come on Hotch she did it twice already, the poor girl threw up three separate times," Derek said, putting his hand on my shoulder, looking puppy-eyed at me and Hotch.

"Okay answer me this last thing," I nodded to his request. "Do you know anybody that knew you were close on this case and who could possibly do this?"

"Of course not," I put my head in my hands, feeling my head throb yet again. My apartment was filled with the FBI and Police, and honestly, anyone who could possibly fit in my tiny rooms.

"Think about it, Vera," Derek pleaded.

"Don't you think I would be aware someone I know could do something like this Hotch?" I snapped, looking at Hotch. "I'm sorry, I know I wasn't really close to her, hell I never met her when she was alive," I stumbled over my words. "but after such a long time on the case, finding every single detail about her, it felt like I've known this little girl my whole life," I teared up, imagining the bloody skin I saw that morning, comparing it to the smiling picture I looked at every single day.

"I understand, and that's totally fine, I'm just scared that you are not safe right now okay?" Hotch said again, keeping calm and as a result helping me calm down as well.

"Why don't you stay with me for now?" Reid said from my other side.

"Yeah that would be nice," I mumbled, biting the inside of my cheek as everyone slowly pilled out of my bedroom, letting me and Reid stay back. I closed my eyes, rubbing them with my knuckles.

"What would you like to do now?" Spencer asked carefully, scared to break any stability I had left. I stared blankly at him, the image replaying in my head, and the smell still strung in my nostrils, burning the hair inside. "Vera?" Spencer asked again.

"Hm?" I hummed.

"I'll pack your bag okay?" He asked, slowly standing up and picking up my blue workbag that sat near my bed.

"Okay," I whispered, staring at the spot where Spencer was just sitting, a muffled blanket looking back at me.

"Do you know an Eric Lincon?" Emily and Hotch rushed into the room, slamming my room open.

"What?" I snapped my head at them, sweating as the name neared my ears.

"There is a restraining order against an Eric in your name," Hotch said, "Why?"

"That is none of your business," I mumbled.

"When I hired you I did not see it, why was it hidden?" Hotch was raising his voice again.

"Hotch I need you to drop this conversation right now," I looked up at him, standing up from the floor.

"Let's go to the office," Emily said, taking my hand. I forced myself to comply slowly following after my sister, my boss, and my secret lover to look through my private life, something I'm sure no one wanted to disclose.
