Hugh
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is not the type of environment that Anastasia is used to and it has nothing to do with how's she's dressed.
Nope it's the way she has sat through every single meeting with a look on her face that says she has absolutely no idea what the hell is going on. At one point she even looked up at the ceiling and mouthed "just kill me now" probably thinking no one would notice.
No one else did, other than myself. Mainly because every single movement she makes involuntarily draws my eyes over to her.
Something about her is transfixing and I can't for the life of me figure out why the hell that is. She's infuriating, has about as much grace as a feral animal and everything about her grates on my every nerve but yet I can't keep my eyes off of her.
I have to give it to her though, despite the fact she's clearly bored out of her mind she hasn't made one sarcastic comment. Hasn't made it completely evident to everyone else that she'd rather be anywhere else but here.
Despite that I gather this really isn't going to be a good match for her. If we're going to have Anastasia work for us we're going to have to find an alternative.
As we walk into my office for lunch Lydia is already waiting with a rack of clothes for Anastasia as requested. But she ignores it and goes straight over to my desk where lunch is set out waiting for us.
"What is this?" She asks opening a box with her face crunched up.
"Sushi" Lydia sneers back and I give her a warning glare as I take my seat across from Anastasia.
"I guess it'll do" Anastasia says with a shrug as she proceeds to quite literally spear a sushi roll and shove it into her mouth in one go, and the look of disgust on Lydia's face is astronomical.
"You should have everything you'll need" Lydia says and I don't miss the slight vindictive edge to her tone. I also don't miss the way her lips tug in the corner as she fails to hide her smirk. "Why don't you try it all on before you eat, you wouldn't want to bloat" she then says gesturing to the private bathroom connected to my office. "I'm sure Hugh won't mind"
Anastasia looks from Lydia to me and I nod my agreement.
"Fine" Anastasia grunts putting her chopstick down and heads over to the rack.
She looks through, her brows pinched together and it's not hard to see she's not exactly impressed with the selection. Something tells me it's not exactly to her taste but surprisingly enough she doesn't say anything she just keeps looking through. as she scoops all the clothes on the rack together and heaves them off to carry them all into the bathroom.
Most would choose to take a couple at a time but then again it's pretty clear to distinguish that Anastasia isn't exactly like most women and something about that thought has me smiling before I even realise I'm doing it.
"Who is she?" Lydia asks drawing my attention to her to find her standing with her arms crossed and a very unimpressed expression.
"Her names Anastasia you already know this" I say knowing full well that wasn't what she was asking.
"Who is she to you?" She then asks distain clear in her tone.
At that I scoff because I know exactly what direction she's going with this. Lydia has a tendency to believe she's way more important around here than she actually is, normally I ignore it because she's good at her job but right now I find it more frustrating than usual.
