It isn't often that Hugh's distracted whilst at work, hell it's the only thing he ever does but throughout this whole update from Lydia I think I've seen him check his phone more times than he has in his whole life.

At this point I'm pretty sure he isn't even paying attention which is so unlike him I'm starting to think something is going down.

The only thing that gives me any kind of reassurance is the fact he hasn't moved and continues to pretend he's listening to Lydia's update about the arrangements for our trip back up to Birmingham next month.

I'm barely paying attention to her because I never do and I'm only here because me and Hugh have other stuff to discuss once this is over with.

"And just to check how many rooms would you like me to book?" She asks and where Hugh would usually have a reply ready because he's so meticulous about everything but when there's no response from him both me and Lydia look at him to find he's yet looking at his phone yet again.

Lydia looks to me and back to Hugh with a brow raised and I'm sure she's not used to him being so preoccupied either.

"Hugh?" Her tone is sharp and way too pointed for her position and thankfully it seems to snap Hugh out of it for a moment.

He finally looks up from his phone, his expression less than impressed but it does nothing to deter Lydia's snarky attitude. She even goes as far to plant her hand on her hip and cock it.

"I asked how many rooms I'll be booking in the hotel, are the twins going with you two?" She asks using her other hand with a file in to wave between us.

In all fairness it's a valid question, neither of the twins have come back to Birmingham with us since what happened to Cian. This'll be the first time.

"We won't be staying in a hotel, we need a secure gated residence" he says checking his phone again and whatever is on there he clearly doesn't like because he slams his phone back down onto his desk. "And round the clock security so I need an address by the end of the day to have arrangements made" he then snaps.

Lydia's eyes bulge and she huffs in frustration folding her arms across her chest.

"And where exactly do you expect me to find a place like that to rent by the end of today?" She hisses and this is a prime example of why I can't understand how she still has a fucking job.

"So fucking buy somewhere" he snaps back and the ferociousness of his tone seems to catch her off guard.

Her mouth opens and closes a few times before she finally manages to spit out her response. "I'll see what I can do" At that she turns and makes to leave.

"Lydia" Hugh calls his phone in his hand again.

When she pauses and turns to look at him he continues without even looking at her.

"The things I asked for?" He then says his eyes flickering up to her briefly.

"The phones in my desk" she huffs as if he's asked her to concur world peace.

"So go and get it then" he bluntly replies and at that she finally strolls out definitely pissed at him and although I don't tend to sympathise with the devil in carnet I do get why this time around.

Whatever's got into him today has got to be significant cause never has he let anything affect him quite this much, especially when it comes to work. That has always comes first unless when it concerns me and brothers.
