Somewhere before Raccon City, 1998
⋆。°✩He drove down the street. It was raining outside, and you couldn't see 4 meters clearly. There was music on the radio, pretty happy music, but it couldn't get him in a happy mood. He was anything but happy, in fact, EVERYTHING was anything but happy; how could radio stations even dare to play something so happy when the world was going to shit?
He worked for an organization called the "secret service". They were taking action against Umbrella's crimes. Experiments on people, animals, terrible genetic mutations, many homicides due to the cruel mutated human beings. Many test subjects were infected with the T-virus against their will and at some point, the virus broke out of the underground research institutes to the surface and thus to the world. And now they were in deeper shit than ever before; he could count himself lucky when he met living peoplein this hellish world.
The T-Virus was a biological weapon manufactured by theUmbrella Corporation. It was capable of bringing dead cells to life, but with a side effect that affected every healthy living being. Although it allowed the cells to heal faster, it significantly weakened the ability to react and think. The infected person only pursued the most primitive need - the need for nourishment.
How this whole fun worked on animals was still unexplored, but that's why he was sent to Racoon City. He had to somehow get a sample of the T-virus and do further research. Apparently, there was another type of virus, his agency told him, and he should find out something about that too. He never encountered this second type of Virus, and he didn't know if he should want to.Suddenly it beeped. The tank was almost empty. Perfect. He turned right onto the gas station that had appeared on his map kilometers ago. Everything looked empty, cars were there, doors open, lights on. Of course, even that goddamn gasstation can't remain untouched by this fucking virus.
He thought he would haves some peace and quiet. He was a trained agent, of course, with specific training for these zombie things; But when their moaning and growling gets on your nerves, their ugly, decayed hands reach for you and their dead, white, bloodshot eyes look into your soul, then you feel uneasy, even quite sick, even an agent like him. No one prepares you for these things except the experienceitself. He couldn't spend time explaining to anyone what they're like; you just had to see them; hear them when they banged against the windows and the doors, you just got to see them.
He got goosebumps when he thought about it, after his first deployment he had nightmares, terrible ones at that. He dreamed how they surrounded him, attacked him, and dismantled him into every single sinew.
How they tore his legs and arms out, how they stripped the flesh from his bones, how they made him unrecognizable again and again, night after night.
And then you are one of them and you don't die, no, your soul dies, dies a little bite very time you do the same thing to living beings that was done to you. Tear them apart. It's a torture. One that goes on forever. When do you die then? When does your soul rest? He didn't know. He didn't want to find out.He refilled his tank and drove back out onto the road; the rain was now heavier and even though he only stood outside for about 4 minutes he was soaked.
After about another 20 minutes, the city in the distance appeared to him getting bigger and bigger. He gripped the steering wheel tighter as he passed the gates of Raccoon City. He slowly eased off the accelerator and drove through the burning city at about 30. It looked like a film set, as if the set designers had scattered a little newspaper and set fires, kicked in a few doors and blown up houses, but it wasn't like that, no, this was real, these weren't set designers, these were these fiends, these animals. The same things that tore apart this city will soon tear apart him. When he was finally able to look away from outside, he realized that he couldn't go any further, there was a wall of parked, burning cars in front of him. He probably had to get out and continue on foot. Suddenly a light in the inner rearview mirror became bigger and bigger and slowly he could see what the light level belonged to. It was a truck, a huge thing, that was coming towards him at high speed. He immediately knew what was going on.
He unbuckled himself, threw open the door and stumbled out of the car. The truck rushed into a building complex and finally also into his car behind him. He put his hands infront of his face and waited. His car's and truck's alarms beeped deafeningly, and he crawled away from the burning tailcoat. He was just about to get himself up when he felt a wave of pressure. In the corner of his eye, he saw the truck explode and finally his ears picked up the noise. He felt himself being carried away and suddenly it was dark.
