Unexpected Love in the Aquarium

Chapter 1

This is a story that I'm working on with my friend's name BlueTheMind the credits go to them.  onto the story!

In the deep blue sea lived the only sea creature that ever lived, now to my knowledge merhogs live for thousands of years because of their natural beauty. This merhog was blue like the ocean, with peach arms, face, and belly. His tail is a beautiful emerald color with his fins red. He was swimming one day close to the shore when something had taken him a net that was very hard to break out. He struggled but something poked him and blacked out. Skip to a month later,  they had upgraded Sonic to a larger tank in a viewing area of the aquarium so they could start making money off him.

They had fitted him with a tracker under his scales so he couldn't get lost, not like he would make it far without help. Eggman had only seen him a few times, he had other important things to do but he'd stay when the scientist examined him. Eggman was kind enough to give Sonic a friend as mercreatures were typically social, the small goldfish mix swam around their new tank excitedly. It was much prettier than the basic observation tank they were in before, still not any places to hide though.

"Sonic look! A new tank! there are little snails here!" Chip exclaimed, only able to talk in the water as he didn't have a set of lungs for air. Sonic smiled and went to the small snails, "Yeah bud, isn't snails should have been out and not in the tank?" He said holding the snail's showing chip. Chip chuckled, picking one up. "They breathe underwater too! I wonder if there's anything else in here." He set it back down, swimming around to find little shrimps eating the algae.

Sonic smiled slightly and sat on his huge shell bed just wanting to explore the outside of the tank, but afraid to dry out. He sighed and spaced out, dreaming about going out of the tank. Chip played with the little shrimp, terrorizing them unknowingly. The lights in the building turned on, signaling that workers were getting ready to open the place. Two people showed up at the glass, one of them was Infinite Sonic knew who he was and he was a little scary.

Next to him was a dark hedgehog with red highlights, looking just as scary but his expression turned to curiosity as he looked at the merhog. "This is the creature I'm taking care of?" Shadow asked and Infinite nodded with a smile. "Yes, he's rare but we hired you due to your background on working with mixed creatures, we needed someone who could have eyes on him almost 24/7" Infinite replied.

Sonic snapped out of his mind and saw them, disgust on his face but turned into curiosity when he saw the new guy, come to the glass and put his hands on the glass, tilting his head to the side with one of his ears down. 'He's new, kinda cute too.' He smiled at Shadow wanting to meet him face to face and not through a glass, looks away from Infinite because he hates him flirting with him. Shadow looked at the merhog, he didn't usually feel attraction but the other was quite cute, and having worked with other mercreatures he knew they could be sentient so he couldn't wait to meet him.

"Right, you can count on me." Shadow nods to Infinite. The jackal gazed at Sonic a moment longer before handing a walkie-talkie to Shadow. "If you need anything just use that, the first day will be easy." Infinite then left. Sonic crossed his arms waiting for Infinite to leave and sat down on his bed, Chip on his lap petting his head. He waits until he's needed to entertain the people and mobians that are coming to the aquarium. Sweet kids love Sonic because they say that he's cute and beautiful.
