Unexpected Love in the Aquarium

Chapter 6

Once Tails was getting him up the ramp he struggled a bit, suddenly another pair of hands helped him push the wheelchair up. It was Shadow, having just gotten into work and saw them. "Hey, Thanks!" Tails said this was the first time they met. "Morning to you both," Shadow replied, helping Sonic back into the water. Sonic heard his voice but not looking up because he just feels disgusted by being touched without permission. "Morning Shadow..." He said, sitting on the edge feeling sad, he just wanted to sleep in and not be bothered today, but it seems luck really isn't on his side today.

Shadow was concerned by how the merhog was acting, he didn't like seeing anyone feel that way but he didn't know what had happened. "It's still a few hours until we open to the public, do whatever you need to," Shadow said to Sonic, glancing back at Tails as the other went to go put the wheelchair away. Sonic nodded and thanked both "Can I not be bothered until lunch Tails?" He asked, looking at him with sad eyes, wanting to sleep it off.

He hates being sad like this, he wishes that he never met Infinite so none of this happened. Tails turned around when Sonic called him, giving a nod. "Yeah sure, Shadow just leave his breakfast up here so he can get it if he wants. I'll make sure the staff doesn't bother you until lunch." Tails said. Shadow nods and takes that as his leave, both he and Tails leave Sonic alone now. Sonic sighed and went down into the tank, swimming to his bed and crying because he never wanted to see Infinite for a while.

He lay down with his face on his arms just trying to get his emotions together. He never thought of disobeying someone to the point he gets shocked. 'Why me? Why do I have to be with Infinite for the rest of my life? Can Shadow be my permanent caretaker? He is more better than Infinite' he thought and cried himself to sleep.

Chip watches as Sonic swam down, having been worried about him. He seemed to have a right to be worried since the other was crying, lying down on the bed next to him while keeping an eye on Sonic. When the doors opened people were confused to see the merhog sleeping for hours, still, it didn't matter much as at least they got to see him in person. When lunch came around Shadow put down what he was working on and went up with lunch, a light knock vibrating through the waters.

Sonic woke up from the knock, and sit up while rubbing his eyes to get the sleep out, and yawned, look at Chip, and went up to the top, poking his head out to see Shadow "Oh, hello Shadow, lunch already?" He asked, sitting on the edge of the platform waiting to be given his food. Chip had started entertaining kids by doing flips and other tricks so Sonic wouldn't be bothered. Shadow handed him the lunch and leaned against the rail, looking into the water. "Hey, I'll be getting in later to clean the glass. I hope you don't mind." Shadow told him, looking at the other for a reaction.

Sonic eating his lunch and shakes his head letting him know that he doesn't mind at all "Sorry about this morning...I don't know what going on with my emotions. I never disobeyed anyone, been if it was Infinite." He said looking down and seeing the people looking at Chip, he didn't mean to be a burden on his friends. He sighed and finished eating "Thank you for lunch" He smiled slightly, still a cute smile. Shadow's ears perked up, so something had happened this morning. 

He'd have to look into that, picking up the container that lunch had been in. "Nothing to be sorry about, it must be stressful on you. Especially how he shocked you yesterday, that was...hard to watch." He admits, giving a nod when he was thanked for lunch. Sonic giggles, smiling at him "It's alright, I'm used to this life...hope we can hang out more." He said going into the water "Don't push yourself too hard okay?" He said with a concerned voice.

Shadow wanted that, giving a nod to the other. "I'll be back in a few hours okay, I'll get in to clean at dinner time." He gave a small wave as a goodbye, heading down to take care of other things he was supposed to do. Chip poked his face out as Shadow left, looking to Sonic.
