Late night walks with my FAVOURITE cousin Ambrosia has always been an alternative to my therapy and same goes for her too. Hopefully I make a good company for my close ones.
We didn't usually get these opportunities to catch up on each other's lives face to face again since Ambrosia worked as a model in New York for a year now and we rarely had time to catch up through calls. But today was a night before thanksgiving and I and Ambrosia always celebrated it with my uncle and aunt aka parents of Ambrosia.
After the death of my closest blood relative, my brother. I was more than an Orphan. Sameer uncle, Aunt Ella (my uncle married an American when he worked in America for a health care firm. So Ambrosia is a Half American half Indian product of them.) They were the only relatives I was left with and I cannot be more than grateful to them for how they raised me like their own child to the point it did not feel like Ambrosia was just my cousin and they were not my real parents.
So I owed them a huge. Probably more than my life.
I spilled my tea starting with the date with Vedang and how Atharva and I ended up at my local park at midnight 2:00 am, though I wanted to keep aside the part when we both kissed. Impulsively. But Ambrosia always had her way to get the juiciest news of my life from me. I further added my encounter with Atharva when at The Beans Haven and moment when we found ourselves in a narrow lane, our bodies collided and when every cell of my brain screamed “MOVE OUT OF THAT TOUCH HE IS A TRAITOR” but my heart ditched me again and my body stayed melted at his touch.
“That fucker is not going to leave you alone i see.” Ambrosia tossed her empty coffee Tumblr in the street dustbin.
"Whoa there, careful with the F-bombs," I say with a light chuckle, nudging Ambrosia playfully. "But yeah, you might be right. Though, to be fair, the whole 'bumping into each other' thing could have been a total coincidence this time, right?"
I take a sip of my own coffee, trying to gauge Ambrosia's reaction. A part of me wants to defend Atharva though it always wanted to, another part wants to hear my fiery cousin dissect his motives.
"Maybe," Ambrosia replied, skepticism lacing her voice. "But with Atharva's history? Come on, triks, don't tell me you're buying that?"
She raises an eyebrow, waiting for my response.
"Ugh, enough about Atharva! Tell me more about modeling in New York. How was the Victoria's Secret casting you mentioned?" My words finally made their way out of my throat.
Ambrosia throws her head back and lets out a hearty laugh, the sound echoing through the otherwise quiet street. "Oh man, you have no idea," she says, wiping a tear from her eye. "It was insane! So much pressure, but the energy was crazy. And let me tell you, those wings are heavy!"
She leans in conspiratorially. "Although, between you and me, I totally tripped on the runway during practice. Face.planted. Everyone swore to secrecy, but let's just say I won't be needing therapy anytime soon to get over that one."
