102°c

I sigh and put the thermometer back down and crawl back to my bed. The fever is eating up my whole body, my taste buds long dead.

A bead of sweat travels down from my neck to my stomach. I need to distract myself or I'll start feeling sicker.

Grabbing my novel I was reading, I turn the pages until I heard a trail of whispers coming from my brother, Vidyut's room.

But I'm too lazy to check. He might be talking over the phone with one of his friends or colleagues.

After a minute, a loud yet soft chuckle left the room echoing. It was not my brother's. Definitely.

I walk towards his room but instead of interrupting their conversation I peek through the window of the room.

Surprisingly, Vidyut saw and he signed two fingers towards me low enough the man facing his back towards me cannot see and with this he showed those two fingers like a gun and pointed a thumb.

This means he wants me to hide.

He always taught me some sign languages and said this will help me in the future and I didn't realise a future turned into present so swiftly but I was curious to overhear their conversation.

once I reached the library my hand yanked off the calendar hung on the wall.

Beneath the calendar there was small hole but large enough to see the man and Vidyut having a conversation.

He was a burglar.

I would get up perfect angle of the burglar and my brother.

A tear left Vidyut's eyes and his shoulders tensed.

I can send it.

he is screamed lightly at the burglar out of frustration.

"Even if you kill me today. You can't stop my sister."

A loud thump rang with a strange squeeze of a fist inside my chest.

"We are not fool enough to underestimate your sister Dr. Malhotra. In your absence we promise to take care of her."

In your absence???? What the fuck did he mean by my brother's absence?

"What the hell do you mean?" Vidyut scrunched his eyebrows. "Take care of her?" His eyes gleamed with tears. A large molecule of confusion, fear and devastation filled the air inside that room and I was already getting suffocated with it.

"Arathrika is dating Mr. Atharva Singhaniya" the burglar laughed humorlessly. My brother knew I was dating someone but he was unaware it was Atharva. I was going to reveal it the recent Diwali.
