        "So how are things going?"

"Usual. My mom won't stop trying to have her way. And she still hates me. I think it grows a little more every day. She's started to wipe down the seat I use after I get out. Anything I touch, she cleans. It's starting to get ridiculous."

        "Wow..."

        "I know right?"

"She's really dedicated to curing you."

"Yeah. It's whatever at this point."

        "I think she'll come around."

        "Honestly?"

"Yes. I truly believe she will come around."

"Ha! You got to be kidding me! I like to think that from time to time to make myself feel better but I don't think she'll ever come around. I think she'll hate me for the rest of my life and that makes me unbelievably sad. I don't think she'll come around like Sarah's mom did."

"There's still a chance she will."

        "I don't know about that."

Flashback

----------------

"I don't want to sleep without you tonight Lie. I don't think I could."

I didn't want her to sleep without me either. What if she had a nightmare and I wasn't there to console her? No. She was staying over even if I had to kick and scream for my mom to let Lace stay the night. I would do anything for my girl. That included keeping her safe during the night.

"Then you're spending the night at my house again. We'll go to your house and ask your mom. While we're there, we'll get you some clothes."

        "What if she says no?"

"We will worry about it when we get there."

"Okay." I looked over at her. I could see she was scared. She really didn't want to sleep without me. I took her hand in mine and kissed it.

"Everything will be okay angel. I'm not gonna leave your side." I leaned over quickly and gave her a kiss on the forehead, an extra reassurance before putting my eyes back onto the road.

"What if she says no? I can't deal if she says no. I need you Lie. I need you now more than ever. You need to do whatever it takes to stay with me tonight."

I grabbed her by the shoulders. We were right in front of her door. I couldn't do anything more than that.

"Angel you need to calm down. Take a deep breath and then let it out."

She inhaled but didn't exhale. Her face was starting to turn red.

"Lace. Breathe." I patted her on the back and she choked out a breath. "Don't ever do that again. It's scary seeing your face as red as a tomato."
