I make my way to the office, navigating through the bustling roads of the city. I entered the building carrying a smile on my face and enthusiasm for myself. It is the first day of my first job. The moment I opened the glass door of the office and started walking in the lobby, it felt like I was walking through a lot of upcoming opportunities in my life.

I started my day with positive energy and didn't know the day was going to be full of tumultuous storms. Everyone was busy with their tasks. No one is looking for another. I was feeling thrilled until I recalled what I had been told about the temper of my boss by everyone.

I didn't want anything to bring down my positive energy. I shook my head and walked up to the reception. I was about to ask when I should submit my document to HR. But I stopped as my eyes landed on him. He was engulfed talking to someone on the phone. His one hand was placed on the glass door of the office. While talking on the phone, he was observing the whole floor, and no one dared to lift their heads in his presence.

Mr. Van Kirk has an authoritative demeanor. His aura was dark and deadly. His body was impeccably toned. His angular features reflect the thunder of his personality. Despite hearing about his bad temper and aggressive attitude toward everyone, I felt attracted to him. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I had no fear of what would happen if he caught me ogling him.

When he talks, his chiseled jaw, broad lips, and flawless Adam's apple move in such a way that I can't decide whom to kiss first. Or maybe I wanted those lips to kiss me. I came back to reality when my phone started to ring and everyone on the floor lifted their heads and looked at me.

The receptionist stood up, snatched my phone, and dismissed the call. I was about to take my phone back but she handed it back and sighed. "No, one told you in an interview about the phone rule."

I took my phone back and shook my head. "What phone rule?"

Before she responded, I heard a roar behind me. "Who have you given your interview to?"

I turned around and responded immediately because I had no strength to ask him the reason. "Miss. Rachel."

Mr. Van Kirk pointed at Miss Rachel and his voice was not less than thunder. "Rachel, you are fired."

I gasped; my legs were wiggling but I still managed to stand still. I kept my hand over the reception counter to maintain my balance. Rachel stood up from her chair and was about to say something but Mr. Van Kirk didn't let her. "Don't even bother to do that. I want you out of my office in five minutes."

Rachel nodded with tears in her eyes and I felt guilt as I was the reason she got fired. The girl at the reception told me. "Always put your phone on silent within the office."

I took a deep breath and headed towards my table. When I sat down, the door to his office was wide open. Mr. Van Kirk was reading something from the file nestled in his arms. I shook my head, convinced myself that I should go inside, and introduced myself to him. I was about to stand but then my mind raised a question: What if he has some rules for his assistant?

He looked at me through the glass door. I thought he was going to call me but he looked the other way instantly. I mustered up the courage and stood up. I knocked at his door and when he nodded, I walked inside.

I cleared my throat to get his attention but he kept reading his file. "Hello, Mr. Van Kirk. I am Anna and I'll be your new assistant."

I paused for his response but he made me feel like I was not here. A rush of anger coursed through my body so I continued. "I am sorry, I didn't know..."

I stopped when he looked at me with his blue, piercing eyes. I forgot about his inhuman attitude toward Miss Rachel, and it was replaced by an inexplicable spark within me. The time stood still and again I felt the magnetic pull toward him.
