Not a whole lot of time had passed since the entrance exams at the Kaiba Dome. Jaden, Ash and the other applicants that won their duels were on a helicopter heading to Duel Academy.
"Attention new Duel Academy students, if you look outside your windows, you'll see your new home away from home." The helicopter pilot announced in a monotonous tone as he was piloting a helicopter for the purpose of transporting the new students to Duel Academy as everyone looked through the windows, excited. "Now, now, I know you're excited, but don't shove. Quite a sight, eh? Now fasten your seat belts and return your seats to a upright position. We're going to land. Next stop, Academy Island."
Everyone found themselves in a large classroom within the building that resembled a auditorium. They had donned different colored blazers. Ash was among them in a yellow blazer following his entrance exam. He was still trying to get used to his current situation in this new world.
Seconds later, a man in his late forties or early fifties appeared on the giant screen before every new student at the Academy. He was bald but had a tan goatee around the chin. He wore a red blazer that was slightly darker than normal over a shirt and tie.
'So I'm in the Ra Yellow dorm.' He thought out loud. He wasn't sure what life at the Academy would be like, but he hoped it would be a good experience.
Despite not taking a written exam to apply for the academy, he did well enough in that duel to be placed into the Ra Yellow dorm.
"Good morning and welcome my students." He said in a pleasant voice. "I am Chancellor Sheppard, the headmaster here, and you are the best and brightest duelists in the world." The chancellor continued to speak. "Now please, get yourselves settled in at your assigned dorms. I hope you find them quite comfortable; depending on how you ranked of course." He finished the speech with a slight chuckle.
"Well, time for me to head to the Ra Yellow dorm to get settled in." Ash said to himself.
The students were walking out of the main school heading off to their dorm room assignments.
"Bastion and I are in the same dorm." Ash said out loud.
"We certainly are." He saw Bastion walking up to him.
"Hello Bastion." Ash politely greeted him.
Before the two could get any further with their conversation, they both heard a familiar voice in the courtyard.
"You guys in red too?" It was Jaden. He was sitting near a stone decoration in the courtyard with Syrus as they looked at their Duel Pilots.
"Check out the color of our blazers." Ash suggested, pointing to his blazer he put on not long after arriving at the academy.
"Oh..." Jaden realized as he looked at his red blazer. "So that's how it works..."
"Did you figure that out just now?" Ash asked him in disbelief.
"So what? You ever think that maybe I was color-blind!" He snapped.
"Actually, no we didn't. Are you color-blind?" Bastion asked quietly.
The brunette snickered. "Nah, but I could've been!"
"See ya around the dorms." Jaden added.
"I don't think so. Your dorm's over that way." Bastion pointed his thumb towards the other side of the island.
"Later." Ash waved as he and Bastion walked on.
The Ra Yellow dorm resembled a library. It was very clean and true to the name, very yellow.
