After both players drew their starting hands from their decks, Titan began the duel between the two.

"Prepare yourself fool, to enter the Shadows! I summon forth Infernalqueen Archfiend in Attack mode!" Titan declared.

Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you must pay 500 life points (this is not optional), or this card is destroyed. When resolving an opponent's card effect that targets this card, roll a six-sided die, and negate that effect if you roll a 2 or 5, and if you do, destroy that card. Once per turn; during the Standby Phase: Target 1 "Archfiend" monster on the field, it gains 1000 attack until the end of this turn.

"And now that this card's out, each and every monster that has Archfiend in its name gains 1000 ATK points!" Purple fog seeped into the Archfiend's body as she grew more powerful. (1900/1500)

"An Archfiend monster." Ash stated.

"Ah I see you know the type of monsters I use." Titan was impressed.

"Yeah I have heard of them and I know you have to pay life points every turn to keep them on the field." Ash pointed out a flaw in his strategy.

"Not after this, I don't." Titan inserted a card into his custom Duel Disk, causing a light to shine across the field, forcing Ash to cover his eyes at the brightness. When he opened his eyes, the room around him soon changed into a disturbing room with bone statues of horrid monsters and bone-laced walls and a lava pool in the middle of the field.

"And it doesn't just change the scenery, it changes the rules!" Titan declared. "Now, I don't have to pay Life Points in order to keep my Archfiend on the field! Also, if they're ever destroyed outside of battle, I get to place another Archfiend of a lower level right into my hand!"

'That just made things harder.' Ash thought.

"I know what you're thinking, foolish boy." Titan turned to the motionless form of Alexis, "Your little friend's fate is all but sealed and you know what?" He paused as the coffin she lay in closed up and disappeared into the ground.

"You shouldn't have done that." Ash growled in anger.

Titan just made a big mistake having that coffin disappear into the ground with Alexis inside it. He was very protective of his friends and if anything happened to them, there was going to be a problem.

This compelled him to try harder in the duel to get Alexis out of here.

"My turn!" He drew his card. "Go! Big Shield Gardna." A man with a large shield knelled down.

"I'll place two cards face down to end my turn." Ash announced.

"Too bad you won't have a chance to use them during this duel." Titan said as he drew a card and slapped another onto his disk. "Terrorking Archfiend in attack mode!"
