As I carefully edged out of the bed, trying not to disturb Gemini, a loud knock at the door froze me in place. I knew that knock. My heart skipped a beat as I couldn't believe it. Gemini, now fully awake, noticed the sudden change in my demeanor.
"What's wrong, baby?" he asked, his voice soft, filled with concern.
"Um...It's Phuwin," I replied, turning to face Gemini, my expression torn. "He's at the door. He... he said he wanted to see me, but I didn't expect him to come over this early. It's been over a month since we last saw each other."
"Go, see what he needs. It must be important if he's here at this hour." I hesitated, glancing between the door and Gemini.
"Are you sure? I don't want to leave you here, especially looking so adorable when sleepy." Gemini gave me a reassuring smile, squeezing my hand gently.
"Of course, I'm sure. He is important to you, and if he needs you, you should be there for him. We can catch up on sleep later. Go on," he urged, his tone filled with an understanding only a loving partner could offer. I leaned in, kissing Gemini briefly but filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, Gem. I'll be quick, I promise." With a nod of encouragement from Gemini, I slipped out of the room. As the door swung open, Phuwin's eyes immediately widened, a rush of emotions playing across his face before he lunged forward, wrapping me in a tight embrace.
The surprise and sudden intensity of the hug caught me off guard, my heart squeezing at the raw display of Phuwin's feelings.
"Fourth, you...," Phuwin mumbled, his voice muffled against my shoulder, his grip tightening as if afraid I would slip away again. My arms slowly wrapped around Phuwin, a heavy sigh escaping me. "I know, I'm so sorry. I've been a terrible friend," I admitted, regret lacing my voice.
"How could you just vanish like that? You know we hate when you do," Phuwin pulled back just enough to search my face for answers, his eyes glistening with unshed tears and hurt. I met Phuwin's gaze, the guilt clear in my own eyes.
"I got caught up in... life, I guess. There's no excuse. I missed you a lot, and it hurt, not talking, but I didn't know how to come back from that."
"We were worried sick, Fourth. I thought we did something wrong again, that you didn't want us around anymore." Hearing the pain in Phuwin's voice, I felt my own heart clench. "No, no, Phu. It was all on me. You guys did nothing wrong. You're one of the best friends I've ever had. Can you forgive me?"
Phuwin studied me for a long moment, then, slowly, a small smile broke through his worried expression. "I missed you too much to stay mad at you. Just, don't ghost us again, okay? It hurt."
"I promise, Phuwin. I won't. I missed you more than I can say."
