Hello Mary Lou! [Ricky Nelson]

Chapter Five

I felt really guilty about turning down Ricky for a dare when I infact did want to date him. I knew if we broke up then I was out of an acting job, and worse yet I was going to be out of my friendship with Ricky.

I could not bare not to have him in my life. He was becoming my very best friend. I needed him in my life. I knew he needed me to.

David was becoming a close friend to. I adored their parents. Every week they invited me over for dinner. And my parents invited all of them to have dinner with us to.

This week had gotten so hot. My paycheck was very nice when I got it. Dad said we could get a pool put in the backyard. Paula was so excited about it. All she talked about was hosting pool party's. No one else on this block had a pool yet.

The phone rings. I hear mom answer it then she says it is a call for me, dad hands me this weeks script that came in the mail for me and I take the phone call.

"Hello, is this Mary Lou?" They ask on the other end.

"The one and only" I joke. "How can I help you?"

"This is Woman's Day magazine we want to introduce you interview you about your career on the show. What it's like to know Ricky. We will pay you to do a photo shoot and a full cover spread of you!" says the woman on the other end.

Me? In a magazine?

"Can I think on it? I have never been in one before. I mean it sounds great. But can I have a little time?" I ask her.

"Sure! Sure! My name is Debbie Ann Spencer. I will give you my number and let me know very soon! We are trying to get ready for next month's issue" she explained to me cheerfully.

I jotted down her number before we hang up. Mom gives me a questioning look before heading out of the room as I make another phone call.

"Hello?" answers David on the other end.
"Is Ricky there? I really need to talk to him" I stammer nervously.
"Mary Lou! Hey yes he is I will get him for you! Hang on a second!" Then I hear David set the phone down and yell for Ricky to get the phone.

"Mary Lou? Are you okay?" answers Ricky.
"I'm fine. I have to say I had the wildest phone call just now! Let me tell you....."I ramble on telling him everything the lady said.

"We will ask the show first if it's alright for you to be involved in this and it should be. Do you want to be interviewed?" Ricky asks me.
