Hello Mary Lou! [Ricky Nelson]

Chapter Seven

I was so nervous about hearing back from Ricky. I was sure that right away I would hear back from him. Because he was in love with me to. But oddly enough I didn't hear from him.

Not for a few days. We were not taping on the show yet. And I was dying to see him. To hear from him. But my heart felt there was something wrong. Maybe he had liked that other girl on our date.

Could I have lost my one chance at love?

Could I have lost Ricky?

I looked over the magazine article that came out. It declared my love for him. My sister comes in the room of the kitchen as I stare at the phone wondering if I should cave in and call Ricky or not?

I sigh.

"Did he call? Or even write you a letter?" wonders my sister. I shake my head no.

"Nothing" I sigh in defeat.

"Do not call him. You will look desperate!" warns my sister.

I nearly laugh. Like she had ever had a date in her life. "How would you know?"

"I read Sixteen Magazine" she points out then leaves the room.

"Oh, there you are Mary Lou! I was looking for you!" my mother tells me.

"What did you need mom?" I ask her.

"David, called you. David Nelson. He wants you to call him back right away. As soon as you can" mom informed me. She smiles then wandered away.

David?

"Odd, but okay" I sighs. I go to call Ricky's house. It rings nothing.

I wait about an hour more. Reading a book. Then I rush back over to the phone, I call again feeling nervous inside. What could David want to talk to me about? Did he want to fire me off the show? Was Ricky dating that other girl?

Suddenly someone answers my call.

"Hello?"

"David?" I hear him answer on the other end of my call.

"Mary Lou! Thank heavens!"

"What's going on?"

"It's Ricky! He's in the hospital. The taping of the show is postponed till next week so we wanted to let you know what's going on" explained David. I gasp.
