Day 5: Feelings/Hope

Hope sighed as she sat at her desk, staring at her laptop. She'd already been sitting in front of it for a while, doing nothing but letting her mind wander. After the team had defeated the Demon Queen, there was still a lot to do before they could even consider taking a vacation. Hope didn't have time to process the discovery that she was made to be a key to the Demon Queen's cage. But now, inside the privacy of her trailer, she could reflect and take it all in.

Her whole life, Hope had wondered who her birth parents were. Were they nice? Were they alive? If they were alive, why had they given her up for adoption? Did they wonder who she'd become? For so long, all she had was questions, but now she finally had answers to some of them; sadly, the truth was far from what she had been hoping for...

How could Rathimael make her just to be a key to a cage? And why a human baby? The other keys had been relics, and it made no sense why he would go through the trouble of creating a human baby and raising her, all while hiding her origins. Speaking of how, how did Rathimael make her? Hope knew magic could help people conceive a child, but to make a human baby through magic alone? Was that even possible?

Another sigh escaped Hope's lips. Looks like her questions were going to continue to grow... Did she even have birth parents? As sad and worrying as it was to consider, Rathimael could have stolen her from them to transform her into a key. After all, it was probably easier to take a pre-existing baby rather than magically make one from scratch!

But if that was the case, where did she come from? Hope had searched for her birth parents for years, but she always assumed they were dead. So maybe she needed to start looking for living parents... But she had no idea how to do that. Missing persons' cases wouldn't do her much good if she didn't even know what State, least of all, what town or city she had been born in! That's not even taking into consideration the fact that she would have gone missing as a baby 25 years ago... The only pictures of her that could potentially exist were baby pictures, and unless investigators went as far as making age-progressed photos, she might as well give up now...

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Come in!" Hope calls to whoever is on the other side of her RV's door.

The door creaks open, and the team's FBI ally, George Mathison, climbs into the RV. The agent had come a long way since they met in Black Ridge, and he tracked them through multiple States, trying to arrest them. And while he might have gotten a shocking introduction to the supernatural world, George managed to adapt and became a valuable member of their team. Even if he didn't live in an RV with them. And now that the Demon Queen was defeated, hopefully, there wouldn't be any more world-saving adventures for a while...

"Agent Mathison, I thought you had already left?" Hope says.

"I wanted to say goodbye to everyone before heading out to catch my flight," George replies, pulling the door closed, "you look like you were deep in thought. Shouldn't you be relaxing after defeating the Demon Queen? God, I can't believe I just said that... What is my life?"

"A hell of a lot more interesting," she joked, resting her chin on her hand.

"A hell of a lot more confusing is more accurate..." he groans, "but you didn't answer my question. Something on your mind?"

"You could say that... I've just been wondering where I came from. Maybe I actually have some family out there looking for me..." she explains, "I don't know anything about Demon magic, but I've never heard of any form of magic being able to make a baby without requiring gametes from people..."
