As soon as I enter my room at my parent's place, My eyes find my best friend, Kainaat, sitting on the couch with a book in her hand.

“Kai.” A squeal of excitement left my throat as I ran in her direction, she took her eyes out of the book and opened her arms.

My arms wrapped around her waist as I hugged her. Finally, after three days, I saw her.

Kainaat is not just my best friend, she is my soul sister. We grew up together, she is my other half.

“Amaira, I missed you.” She yelled as I swung her from left to right in our hug.

“I missed you too, Kai.” I admit and break the hug.

“How was the party?” She asked as she sat cross-legged on the bed, the book still placed on her lap.

My eyes move to the mirror as I remove my earrings and lightly massage my earlobes, “It was bad. Boring, but I met Abhimaan.”

“Abhimaan?” She frowned, a crease line on her forehead.

My hands worked their way in my hair, as I lightly massaged my head. “Here,” Kainaat motions, and I sit at the edge of the bed.

Her fingers glided in my hair as she lightly massaged my scalp, “I am so tired.” I groan out loud.

All I see now, I sleep. My eyes droop a bit, before I can fully close my eyes, a slap lands on the side of my head, “Don't sleep, tell me what happened and who is Abhimaan.”

“You know that University topper Abhimaan Raghuvanshi? That one.” I informed.

Our school and university have the same management. It is made for people who come from prestigious, rich families with a legacy of high income.

If it was in my father's hand, he would never let me be in this school, he feels that girls' education is not essential.

Narrow-minded bitch.

He wanted a son, but then I was born, to say that I am still bearing the consequences would be an understatement.

“Tumhare usse kya kaam hai?” She asked.

“It was results day today, I failed in math. So I asked him to be my tutor”.

Kainaat's eyes softened, she slid down on the floor and sat beside me, “That's okay. You can do better next time.”

“No, I know I suck.”

“No, you don't, Amaira. I have seen you studying at nights, you've tried enough, this stream was not for you and your fucking father wasn't in the picture then you would have been able to pursue your passion. You are talented, Amaira. Don't doubt your ability." She spoke, her hand wrapped around my shoulder as an emotional support.
