"Where...am... I?"

I found myself in an empty space, surrounded by a vast expanse of nothingness stretching out in all directions. It was dark, cold, and eerie, with mist clinging to the air like a shroud. I felt an inexplicable pull towards a narrow, light ahead. As I wandered deeper into the light, an overwhelming sense of déjà vu enveloped me, as if I were following a path I had walked a thousand times before.

Instantly, the world shifted. Colors blurred, sounds faded, and I felt myself slipping away into the void. When consciousness returned, I found myself laying in a place that was both familiar and foreign—a hospital room bathed in sterile white light.

"ah."

A small groan escaped from my lip as I trying to process what was happening to me.

Struggling against the disorientation, I attempt to stand up, but my limbs felt heavy and uncoordinated, as if they were weighted down by invisible chains. With a grunt of effort, I managed to push myself upright, swaying unsteadily on trembling legs.

A surprised nurse entered the room, her eyes widening as she took in my precarious state.

"Please sir! you need to lie back down!"

Rushing forward to offer support. Ignoring her protests, I clung to the edge of the bed for balance, my gaze sweeping over the unfamiliar surroundings.

As I attempted to stand, my legs gave way beneath me, sending me crashing to my knees with a sharp thud. Pain shot through my body, but it was nothing compared to the shock of my sudden collapse.

The nurse hurried to my side, her hands gentle yet firm as she helped me to my feet.

"Easy now, let's get you back to bed."

Guiding me with steady reassurance. With her assistance, I managed to hobble back to the bed, every movement sending waves of discomfort rippling through my body. The nurse's brow furrowed with concern as she carefully lowered me onto the mattress, tucking the blankets around me with practiced efficiency.

"I'll call the doctor right away."

Her voice tinged with urgency as she hurried from the room to summon help. Left alone in the sterile hospital room, I lay back against the pillows, my mind reeling with unanswered questions and a growing sense of unease.

As the doctor arrived after the nurse called for help, he examined me to assess my condition. He explained what had happened and informed me that I had lost my memory. After the examination was done, he proceeded to inform me about all the things I needed to know despite my current condition. As I lay in the hospital bed, surrounded by the sterile whiteness of the room, his words echoed in my mind. After examining me, a sudden knock was heard on the door.

*knock, knock*

The sound echoed through the room, breaking the eerie silence like a crack in the facade of my confusion. I turned my gaze towards the door, where a tall figure stood, his silhouette outlined against the harsh fluorescent light.

"You're awake."

His voice was soft, yet it cut through the silence with a clarity that commanded attention.

"So, how'd you feel?"

His eyes filled with a mixture of concern and sadness. I shook my head, feeling a dull ache behind my temples. My voice barely audible even to myself.

"I... I'm alright."

"I see..."

As I inspect the tall man's features. His demeanor was composed, yet there was a distinct chill to his presence. His dark eyes held a hint of sorrow, complemented by his unkempt black hair and untidy beard.

"What's your plan now?"

"I'll... think about it later."

"Your sister, she's been worried sick about you. She's been waiting for you to wake up."

"I..."

The tall man nodded solemnly, his expression mirroring my own sense of helplessness. Each word felt like a struggle, torn from the depths of my being.

"What should I tell her?"

"..."

However, the towering man couldn't offer a solution to my question.

"For now, do what you can. Let's meet up once you've sorted out your problems."

"Thank you for your kindness, sir... um..."

"Guren, but you can call me uncle even though we're not blood relatives."

"Ah, understood. Thank you, Uncle. I'll see you later."

'I wonder what kind of relationship did we have.'

I mused to myself.

......
.....
...

After Guren left the room, I called the nurse to help me into the wheelchair, explaining that I was going to my sister's room to check up on her. I continued to wander through the corridor until I arrived at my destination. Upon entering, I saw a girl sitting on a bed, gazing out the window. Her head was covered with bandages, her hair disheveled as if it had been unevenly cut, and her eyes appeared distant yet so dazzling.

'My sister...'

"B-b-brother!!!"

Upon seeing me, she exclaimed with a stutter, her voice filled with surprise and joy. her face immediately lit up, and for a moment, I forgot about the sadness that had clouded her expression earlier.

"Brother!!!"

*Snob*

She hurriedly lunged toward me, crying uncontrollably, as snot dripped onto my clothes. Well, I can't really blame her. After what happened, this is a normal reaction for any child. I embraced her small and frail body tightly, patting her head gently to comfort her as she burst into tears.

"It's alright, F-Faye."

I hesitantly said her name, feeling unfamiliar with our relation.

"But-"

*hicc-*

"Mom and dad are gone!"

"I'm still here right, and I'm not going to leave you,"

*Sob*

I reassured her again, holding her close as
she sobbed loudly.

If you're wondering why we're here, it's a long-short story. We, a family of four—my mom, dad, Faye, and myself were on a vacation trip when suddenly, a high-ranking dungeon gate opened in the middle of the road, and monsters started appearing. My father and mother, who were heroes, decided to help the people in the midst of chaos and died like heroes.
