Stolas came home that night, drunk out of his mind. He drowned himself with his emotions and thoughts, not wanting anything in his mind to be real. Stolas dragged his legs up the stairs and into the living room to continue to drink. His wife and child were sound asleep, but he couldn't escape the couch. Stolas bent forward with his elbows digging into his knees. His head hung low, tears falling to the carpet, and his mind shambled.
He pushed himself back onto the couch, feeling lazy and defeated. His mind was racing, and he couldn't help but think about how his life had become so dull and uneventful so quickly. He had been having an affair, but he couldn't bring himself to tell his wife about it. He feared that if Octavia, their daughter, found out, it would crush her. Octavia was all he had left; losing her would feel like losing a part of himself.
Stolas raised his arm to his face and wiped his inner arm across his forehead. He let out a deep sigh as he began to sober up. He always knew that thinking about his sweet and loving daughter would bring him back to reality and sobriety. After staring at the ceiling for a while, he summoned the courage to push himself up and slowly approach his chambers. However, upon reaching his chambers, he was taken aback by the sight of his wife, which made him gag.
"Bitch," He hiccuped as he threw the covers to slide into bed without caring if the sheets hit Stella in the face or not. All he wanted to do was get rid of her, but he needed to put up with her for his daughter's sake.
"You're lucky my sweet baby needs you so much. I would've left you in a heartbeat, bitch," He said as he leaned over at Stella to tell her in her ear. He then quickly moved himself to his side and pulled on the covers purposely to wake her up.
Stolas woke up to the warm embrace of the sun rays kissing his face. His dry throat made him cough twice before he sluggishly reached over to the nightstand to grab his pills and a glass of water. After taking the drugs, Stolas got ready to leave the room.
He held his phone in his hand, hoping to receive a message from Blitz. However, when no message arrived, he let out a deep sigh. His daughter noticed and looked at him from the doorway of his bedroom. Stolas glanced up and smiled when he saw his daughter.
"Good morning, darling! How did you sleep?" Stolas said with the broadest smile and the most extended open arms for a morning hug, but she refused by showing hands and backing up from the doorframe.
"I don't like hugs, Dad," Octavia replied, turning her back toward his. He started close behind her and ended up in the kitchen, where his wife was preparing breakfast.
"But I do! And I love hugging my baby girl," said Stolas as he wrapped his slim and long arms around Octavia's torso and lifted her to twirl her around. Octavia tried to get off, but she was also laughing. Finally, Stolas put her back down.
"Come, eat your breakfast, sweetie," Stella's voice was warm and inviting as she beckoned her daughter to the table, where a breakfast plate awaited. Stella gently placed her plate next to Octavia's before taking a seat, a contented smile on her face.
Stolas sat down at the dining table, his stomach growling with anticipation for the delicious meal his wife, Stella, had promised to prepare. He eagerly awaited his plate, but as he looked around, he saw that Stella and Octavia had already begun eating. The aroma of the food was overwhelming, and he couldn't wait to dig in. However, when he gazed at the pan, he saw it was empty.
"Excuse me," Stolas announced, unintentionally making Octavia look up from her plate. Her mother didn't bat an eye in his direction; she remained fixated on her food, oblivious to Stolas's presence. Where is my plate? Do you expect me to starve to death?"
"You have two hands; make it yourself," Stella said dismissively without glancing at him. Meanwhile, she kept chewing her food, gesturing for Octavia to continue eating, and whispering that their meals would get cold if they didn't hurry up.
Stolas looked at her, his expression sour as he muttered "unbelievable" under his breath. He threw his hands in frustration before excusing himself and heading to his room. Once inside, he went to the bathroom and turned on the faucet, relishing the sound of the water gushing out. The steamy mist enveloped him as he stood under the showerhead, letting the warm water soothe his body.
Following his refreshing shower, he quickly dressed in his finest attire and headed out excitedly about his daughter's upcoming sweet sixteen. As he went from store to store, he meticulously searched for the perfect gift to surprise his beloved daughter.
Octavia eagerly anticipated the most magnificent night of the century when all the stars would collide and burst into a breathtaking display of multi-colored comets. His daughter had been dreaming of this moment for months, and he was determined to make it unforgettable. With every step he took, he imagined the joy and wonder on his daughter's face as she witnessed the celestial spectacle she had been yearning for.
His phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket as he continued his relaxed stroll through the town's streets. The vibration sent a jolt of excitement through his body as he realized who was calling: Blitz, his closest friend and occasional lover. They had been seeing each other casually for a few months, and their chemistry was undeniable.
"My, My Blitzy. Calling me this early in the morning?" Stolas purred, emphasizing the words 'my' and 'Blitzy.' It was evident that Stolas was fond of Blitzo and didn't shy away from expressing his affection. While Stolas tended to be slightly 'over the top' when flirting with Blitzo, the latter didn't seem to mind.
"Stop with your fucking fantasies. I need to see you," Blitz ignored the flirtatious man on the other side of the phone while he dealt with his unexpected maniac at the office. Stolas heard the sound of gunfire in the background. He raised a brow in surprise and concern before hearing a loud bang on the other end and deciding to pull the phone away from his ear.
Stolas whispered seductively in the phone, "Oh? I like it when you are needy." Blitz's heart raced as he felt Stolas's words hit him—but of course, he wouldn't admit that. "Tell me where you are, my dear," Stolas continued in a sultry voice, "and I'll be there in a heartbeat."
Blitz let out a deep sigh through the phone line before giving Stolas a response. "I need to be under the radar," his voice strained as he tried to focus on the conversation while also keeping an eye on his surroundings, gunshots firing everywhere. "Get your feathery ass where we used fuck by the bloody sequoia tree," Blitzo said before the phone call abruptly hung up due to his dire situation.
Stolas knew Blitzo had no romantic feelings for him, only lust and passionate nights. He was also aware that he was allowing Blitzo to take advantage of him and use him for his gains, but he couldn't bring himself to break off their situation-ship. He was happy being just that: a pleaser or a user.
Stolas had been struggling with his feelings for Blitz for some time now. He knew that meeting up with Blitz today would be the final straw. Stolas had decided to end things between them, at least romantically speaking. It wouldn't be easy, but he had to do it to move on. Stolas reminded himself that he couldn't keep holding onto someone who could never reciprocate his love. Walking towards their meeting spot, he took a deep breath and braced for what would come.
