Ryder grabs cans of soda from across the training room and pulls it towards his hands, he pushes them towards a target, hitting it at the bullseye. He does this repeatedly with swift movement.
As he trains, some boots can be heard hitting the wood ground entering the training room. They wore formal attire and had a red cape that went down until his knees. Ryder stops training so he can nod at the man. He greets, "Mr. Pedro. How are you?"
The man nods back, "I see you are training well, Ryder."
"Yes, sir."
"That is what I expect."
"Is there anything you need to tell me, sir?"
Mr. Pedro snaps his fingers as he tries to remember, "Ah! Yes. We have a meeting in an hour, I need you there."
Ryder nods and watches Mr. Pedro walk out the room. Pedro seems to have authority over Ryder, he is the leader but he is as well Ryder's guardian, the person who took care of him since he was a baby.Ryder finishes up his training and cleans up so he can make his way to the meeting room. He enters the meeting and sees who has attended. Stone Cutter and Lolly were sitting up front with Mr. Pedro. Zion and Dollmaker was also there with them, mostly talking with each other. Ryder waved to them and they all waved back. Mr. Pedro stood up from his seat when Ryder sat near Stone Cutter.
"So, I called you all today to discuss a new mission that requires all of your skills." He explains. Mr. Pedro turns the screen up in front of the meeting table.
"About a month ago, a man named Donato Fletcher bought a painting from an illegal market. The art piece needs to be taken back to the national museum, that museum has asked many people to find it for a heavy amount of cash. When we found out Mr. Fletcher had it, he was unwilling to give it over." Mr. Pedro explains.
Lolly raises a brow, "Why haven't the police dealt with him?"
"Most of the cops they sent are all either dead or came back severely injured. One of the cops was sent back in a box..."
Ryder raises his hand, "In a box...?"
Mr. Pedro puts a picture of the cop's served arms, legs and even their torso inside of a cardboard box. Everyone yelled and gagged. Ryder yelps and covers his eyes.
Lolly exclaims, "Okay! We get it, I don't need to see that-!"
Mr. Pedro switches screens once again, "I need you all to sneak into the mansion, he is holding a masquerade party tomorrow and it is a good opportunity to steal the art piece back."
Everyone looks at each other, they have some mixed feelings about this after seeing what extends Donato Fletcher will go through. Stone Cutter gets up, "Yeah-! We can do it, he stands no chance against like five heroes." Ryder quickly shook his head even though he would be forced into this mission anyway.
Mr. Pedro clasps his hands together, "Great! I'll send you the details. Meeting dismissed."
Everyone files out, Ryder fiddles with his sleeves and looks to Stone Cutter who doesn't seem too bothered. Ryder wanted to stay at the base and opt out of the mission but didn't want to be yelled at so he kept quiet.Magnet opens the door to the bar. Irwin waves to him and starts making his usual drink. Sir Raven wasn't at the bar today which was unusual as he was always around. He sat down on the bar stool as Irwin passed him a cup of green milk tea. Magnet smiles, "Thanks!"
Irwin smiles back and wipes the counter. Magnet looks around the bar and then down at his drink. "So any interesting missions?" Irwin asks.
Magnet looks up, "Oh- Uh. I mean, I do have a mission but I am literally dreading it."
"Oh? Why?"
"We have to sneak into this dangerous mafia guy's mansion during a party. There's this art piece that he isn't suppose to have and won't turn it over to the police." Magnet sighs, "He is pretty scary and I really don't want to go."
"Can't you just sit out?"
"I really can't, I have tried on other missions but they always force me to go anyway."
"That doesn't sound fair."
Magnet mutters, "I am suppose to take Stone Cutter's place as the number one hero, that's what Mr. Pedro always told me. I can't back out of missions."
Irwin frowns slightly and wrings out a cloth. He questions, "Isn't that a lot of pressure for someone your age?"
Magnet stayed silent from that question, it was a lot of pressure but he was always told to hold it together if he wants to become a hero like everyone else. Mr. Pedro has been the only adult he looked up to before Stone Cutter. He wasn't his father, he never knew his own parents. Whenever he asked about his mom and dad, Mr. Pedro would give him the same answer. They were killed by a villain when he was born. From what Magnet could remember from his childhood, he would train everyday to improve his powers. Even though many see his powers as weak, Mr. Pedro always told them that it was so much more.
Irwin tilts his head when Magnet was quiet for a while. He slowly placed his hand on Magnet's arm. Magnet flinches and shakes his head, he apologizes, "Sorry... Um. It is a lot of pressure but that's what heroes have to face."
Irwin sighs with worry, "Just know you can come to me if you have any problems."
"Thanks, Mr. Irwin." Magnet beams.
