In the darkest days of my journey, the story of Harry Potter, "The Boy Who Lived," shone like a beacon piercing despondency and pointing toward recovery. Just as Harry bravely faced the impossible troubles, so did I find within myself a strength I never knew could exist. Harry's tale of how to survive against all odds had become now interwoven with my own of overcoming to the very dregs of despair. His resilience when faced by the darkness, indomitable spirit, and belief in love and friendship power resounded deep in me, giving a framework in which I would view my journey and the courage to stand through thick and thin. This analogy of survival and rebirth brought great comfort and inspiration: never forget that even through the toughest struggles, a person could come out stronger, find light in darkness, and reclaim his or her life. Harry Potter's journey taught me that real magic is our ability to persevere, hope, and love—that we can be heroes in our own stories.
