A week. A week had gone by so quickly and Lottie still didn't know much of Jax's whereabouts. She had gotten to know the guys a bit more, even seeing whose car was who and learning some of them had backgrounds in mechanics. She had also only seen the happy, carefree sides of the guys. So, when she entered the kitchen to grab a drink, only to see Hyunjae and Kevin arguing, it startled her a bit.
"What the fuck are you talking about! I re-worked the engine so you'd have more horsepower!" Kevin shouted.
"The hell you did! It's slower than before! Hyunjae shouted.
"Maybe it's just you driving like a grandma!" Kevin spat back.
"Fuck you! This is why Jax never let you work on his car!" Hyunjae responded.
"Matter of fact he did! He never complained like a spoiled brat!" Kevin replied.
Lottie was frozen, she wanted to turn and leave, not wanting to get mixed up in their heated argument, but her feet were stuck in place. Especially as she heard her brother's name.
"Guys!"
"What!"
Jacob had walked into the kitchen, also hearing the shouting, but when he saw Lottie there, nearly in tears, he had to do something. Hyunjae and Kevin also noticed and both instantly felt guilty. Neither of them intended to make her cry, but Lottie didn't even know she was crying, until Jacob wiped her tears away.
"Are you okay?" He asked softly.
"Yeah....Yeah, sorry." She muttered.
"Don't be, it was those idiots fault." Jacob replied, sending a glare to Hyunjae and Kevin, who both apologised.
"Let's go outside and get some fresh air." Jacob suggested as he guided Lottie out to the back garden, the two sitting on some chairs. Jacob was quiet for a few minutes, letting Lottie relax, before speaking.
"You okay now?" He asked.
"Yeah, sorry I was being silly." She answered.
"No you weren't. Sometimes seeing people argue is scary." Jacob reassured.
"I guess so." She muttered.
"I heard his name too." She added.
"Who? Jax?" Jacob softly asked.
"Yeah." Lottie said with a nod.
"I'm sorry." Jacob said.
"It wasn't your fault." She replied with a small smile.
"How about I get you a drink?" He offered.
"Sure." She agreed.
Jacob smiled and walked back inside to the kitchen, where Hyunjae and Kevin were seated at the island, both with their heads hung low, for making such a silly mistake.
"Knuckleheads." Jacob mumbled.
"Is she okay?" Kevin questioned quickly.
"Yes, no thanks to you both." He replied.
"We didn't know she'd wander in." Hyunjae said defending himself and Kevin.
"Should you both be arguing in the kitchen? No." Jacob responded, making the duo sigh.
"What was it about anyway?" He called.
Hyunjae started to explain, saying how he'd asked Kevin to work on his car to make it quicker for the race in a couple nights, however Hyunjae felt he somehow made the car slower, to which Kevin got angry about knowing for well he didn't. Jacob sighed at the two.
"How did Jax fall into the argument?" Jacob asked.
"Just a low blow." Hyunjae admitted.
Jacob nodded again and got a glass out, pouring some fruit juice into a glass, but also slipped a pill into the drink, letting it dissolve into the juice. Both Hyunjae and Kevin watched, fully knowing what the pill was for.
"Don't let it happen again and I won't mention anything to Sangyeon Hyung." Jacob said, making the two nod.
Jacob smiled and went back outside to Lottie, seeing her in the same position. He passed her the drink with a kind smile. She took it gratefully, drinking the sweet drink. After a few minutes, she started to feel tired.
"How about a nap, I'll wake you before dinner." Jacob suggested.
Lottie could only agree, her body feeling heavy already. She let Jacob take her hand and help her to bed, letting her mind relax and her body rest.
