Polybotes, Gorgons, Amazons, Laistrygonian giants and Percy being a whiny bitch with anger issues. Daphne had seen it all.

And now they were in Alaska, with less than 24 hours to complete their quest.

"It's after midnight, isn't it? That means it's June twenty-fourth now. The feast starts tonight at sundown. We have to find our way to Hubbard Glacier, defeat a giant who is undefeatable in his home territory, and get back to Camp Jupiter before they're overrun—all in less than eighteen hours." Thank you Frank, for all the information.

"And when we free Thanatos," Percy said, "he might claim your life. And Hazel's. Believe me, I've been thinking about it."

Frank gazed at Hazel, still snoring lightly. Her face was buried under a mass of curly brown hair.
"She's my best friend," Frank said. "I lost my mom, my grandmother...I can't lose her, too."

Percy's heart ached, watching Frank made him think about his old life—his mom in New York, Camp Half- Blood, Annabeth and Augustus, Jules, gods Jules, she was alive and he- he'd lost all of that for eight months. Even now, with the memories coming back...he'd never been this far away from home before.

He'd been to the Underworld and back. He'd faced death dozens of times. But sitting at this picnic table, thousands of miles away, beyond the power of Olympus, he'd never been so alone—except for Hazel, Frank and Daphne.

He was beyond grateful for his friends, for Grover his best friend who knew that Percy had lost all his memories but still kept him informed about camp, for Annabeth and Augustus, who he'd blocked away from his life after the war but still had been there for him. Most of all for Juliet, because she was back, she was back for him even from death and he couldn't be more I love with her for it.

"I'm not going to lose any of you," he promised. "I'm not going to let that happen. And, Frank, you are a leader. Hazel and Daphne would say the same thing. We need you."

"We do," Daphne agreed, giving Frank's shoulder a squeeze, "You really are one of the bravest people I know, I'm glad, I can call you a friend."

Frank lowered his head. He seemed lost in thought. Finally he leaned forward until his head bumped the picnic table. He started to snore in harmony with Hazel.
Percy sighed. "Another inspiring speech from Jackson," he said to Daphne. "Rest up, Frank. Big day ahead."

Daphne gave Percy the side eye before speaking, "I wonder how your personality actually is when you are not missing your girlfriend,"

"And what is your personality like when you are not missing your boyfriend?" Percy sassed back getting an eye roll from Daphne in return.

"Touche," She replied before tapping her fingers of the picnic table, "Do you think he might've found someone else at your camp?"

Percy stared at her, Daphne had reaccounted everything to him during their journey, how the disrespect to her mother had led her to believe Luke's words in equality, how she'd ran away after Luke fell from the cliff and how she hadn't participated in war but had still been accused because she had been spying for her boyfriend Jason.

She reminded Percy a lot of his friend Silena, they were both stuck in wrong circumstances, though whatever they did was not easily forgivable it was still under the circumstances of war.

He wanted the girl to be happy now.

"I mean, you guys seem like a really good couple, so he wouldn't really-"

"You don't know how to give relationship advice do you?" Daphne chuckled and Percy had to hold back a smile.

Juliet used to say the same thing, and Percy used to laugh about it. He leaned his head on the picnic table, he needed to complete this quest quickly to get back to her.
