A week later...
"Hey, I just accompanied you to your ex's wedding. Don't you think I deserve a reward?" Henry teased as he leaned against the door with his arms folded on his chest. It was a simple pose out of habit but it rivaled those top models posing for a professional photoshoot. Sarah's defenses couldn't guard against such extreme beauty.
"I'm feeling a little rich recently," she responded, patting her fat paycheck. Sarah sprung up from the cozy couch, snapped her fingers, and announced excitedly, "Let's go out for dinner. My treat."
"Anything I want, wherever I want?" he asked with a sly smile.
"Anything, anywhere. Your choice."
"Are you sure?" Henry asked again, his smile widening.
This is the point where her brain should have picked up the danger signals. He was definitely giving her a chance to use that brain and reconsider her offer, but she was too busy acting cool to notice. She tossed her hair like a spoiled princess and responded, "Whatever you need, baby."
Half an hour later, his car stopped in front of a 5-star hotel. Her eyes nearly popped out of her sockets when she glanced at the magnificent hotel. She gave Henry a look that seemed to say, "What the hell are we doing here?"
Henry blinked at her innocently and stepped out of the car. Sarah scrambled out of the car and walked to his side. She opened her mouth to say something but he pretended not to see her. He tossed his keys to the valet and glanced at Sarah. He smiled, wrapped his arm around her waist, and walked forward, enjoying her priceless expressions.
Sarah wanted to scold him but could not do so with so many eyes watching them. He was a renowned person after all and would definitely attract many onlookers. She couldn't afford to embarrass him, so she put on an amicable smile and mourned her bank balance in her heart. How could she have forgotten he knew nothing about saving money?
"You do know that we need a reservation to get into this hotel, right?" she asked through a forced smile as they approached the reception area. Anyone looking at her would think that she was genuinely happy being here and couldn't stop smiling. She was a master at pretending everything was okay. No one would know her pains at all.
It should be noted that this hotel did not accept walk-in guests. You had to have made a reservation in advance for you to be granted access. About the reservation; well, you might have to wait for at least six months to get a free table – three months if you are lucky. How did she know? She was once tasked with booking a table for her company's top management, but she found out the hotel had full bookings for the next half a year.
"That's where I come in," he said without bothering to explain. He walked to the receptionist, took out a silver card, and handed it to her without a word. A trace of surprise flashed in the receptionist's eyes and then she became even more respectful than she had been. She bowed to them a little as a sign of extreme respect and then led them to a private dining area.
Sarah watched everything with her mouth wide open. She hadn't closed her mouth since he took out his silver card. A silver card could get you a free pass into the hotel whether you had a prior reservation or not. There would always be a room reserved for a silver cardholder. This was the power of being rich.
But the real question was...
Henry had a silver card?
It was said that this hotel had only five silver cards in total. Among the five cards, one belonged to the director and another one belonged to the family members of the hotel owner. The other three were in the hands of the most influential people in Zaida City, and their identities were kept secret. Did Henry own the hotel? Was he a family member of the hotel owner? Maybe, he belonged to the last category.
