The next day after work, Sarah got out of the taxi parked outside the Salva corporation buildings. She held her black handbag in one hand and a package in the other as she stood facing the building before her. She raised her head and looked at the 20th floor, feeling a little nervous but none of it showed on her face. She promised Emily to come clean with Henry and she planned to accomplish that tonight. She needed all the courage she could get. Sarah took a deep breath and exhaled audibly before pulling her eyes away from the building and walking to the gates. With her special pass, she got in smoothly without too many security procedures and unending questions. After getting in, a security officer guided her into an empty luxurious lounge that showcased the wealth of the Salvas. It was already past working hours and most staff had gotten out of work, save a few who worked overtime, or perhaps, the night shift. Sarah sat on one of those high quality leather couches that she'd only seen on advertisements and a lady dressed in a white shirt and black skirt, and a name tag hanging on her neck, delivered a bottle of expensive mineral water even without requests. Sarah unscrewed the cap of her water bottle, took a mouthful as she swallowed bit by bit, and allowed herself to sink into the comfort of the couch. She crossed her left ankle over the right knee and rested her head on the couch like a boss, wondering how nice it must be to be this rich.
In in less than five minutes, Andy, Henry's assistant, walked through the automatic glass doors while adjusting his left cuffling. His serious face warmed up as he approached Sarah and a smile formed on his lips, gradually evolving into a toothy grin by the time he stood before her. "Well, look who's here," he announced cheerfully in her ear, catching Sarah off guard.
"What the heck!" Startled, Sarah jumped a little from his sudden arrival and spilled a few drops of water on her thighs earning a chuckle from Andy. "Why do you walk so quietly? I didn't hear you come now. Do you want me to be deaf?" Sarah grumbled while patting away the little droplets before the absorbent material of her pants could absorb. A blush crept up her cheeks when two wet patches appeared on her pale blue pants despite our attempts to make the water disappear."This is all your fault," she said, glaring at Andy laughing at her, before shrugging. She screwed the cap back on the water bottle and placed half full bottle on the table.
"You look so cute when you blush," Andy teased while keeping his distance in case Sarah decided to kick his ass.
"Of course, I'm cute." Sarah rolled her eyes and gave her hair a sassy toss. "When was I never cute?"
Andy tapped is chin with his index finger, pretending to be in deep thought. "Okay, okay, you've got a point," he deadpanned, nodding twice as if he'd just made a discovery of the century. That earned him an eye roll again.
Sarah decided she'd had enough of his antics and changed the subject. "So, what's the plan?" she asked as Andy plopped on the couch opposite her.
Andy's playful smile faded and the professional Andy took over. "The rooftop has been decorated as per our earlier agreement. We've made sure to keep it a secret and I promise you he has no clue." He seemed to have remembered something and an evil smile formed on the corner of his lips. "I'll make this day a Day to Remember. I'm so excited to see is face when he realizes I fooled him."
"You really hate him, don't you?" Sarah laughed at his mischievous remarks.
"Hate is a strong word." Andy laughed too, "Sure, he is indeed a pain in the ass sometimes, doing what typical CEOs do and I'm the one to bear the brunt of his mood swings. Oh, and endless overtime too. But he's so worth it. If he cares about you, he'll do anything for you."
"Henry must be really lucky to have such loyal people around him. First Robert, and then you." Sarah swallowed hard, wishing one day she would make it to the list of people Henry cared about that much. "Where is he now?"
