Story based on this drabble:
People are going about their business as they walk, immersed in their worlds and problems. Usually, she does so as well. It's easy to ignore the unimportant existence of someone you've never met, of someone you'll never see again. So, it took her a while to notice him. She was so busy walking down the University's corridor, that if she hadn't looked up at the exact moment he did, their eyes would've never met. And she would've never had such a vision.
In another life, the tall man with blue eyes stands beside her on a big Viking ship. One of his hands rests comfortably around her waist, as it has always belonged there. The other one is holding a crutch used to support his body weight. There's a crown atop his head and a vicious smile as he surveys the horizon. The sea is calm, but she can see a storm brewing far away. Her lover looks at her with confidence and adoration. At that moment, she gets overwhelmed by a mixture of feelings; expectancy, bloodthirst, bravery, and love. She knows that the last emotion is for the man next to her, and for a second her soul provides his name and their life together. For that second, she belonged in another time, in a Viking era.
However, that fragment of existence loses in time and space when their eyes break contact. The illusion disappears, her past gets forgotten again. The recognition that flashes in his blue orbs vanishes just as fast as hers. The next moment, they brush past without looking back.
