Sofia De Ricci:
Years! I felt like I was speaking to Miss Karleen for fucking years. She was nice and all but I knew she only acted that way so she'd get the apartment sold. It was a stunning apartment. In one of the tallest buildings in New York, the view was stunning. It was on the top floor which meant it had its elevator. The apartment was pre-designed but Miss Karleen indicated that if I did buy it I was able to remove and refurbish anything I wanted. I didn't know I'd bother as that seemed like too much work but I knew I'd be adding a few things and possibly might change the wall colour. It had two floors and had balconies on each side of the building. It was perfect.
Once I'd finally finished up with Miss Karleen I'd handed over the check with an insane number on it. I went for a small walk throughout the city. It was beginning to get dark but the sun was still resting in the sky and my stomach was thundering.
I would head back to the house as soon as I was getting thousands of messages and texts from all family members. I couldn't be bothered with their shit right now. I only responded to Pietro's millionth text telling him I was fine and just in the city.
I walked out of the sushi dog carrying a salmon bowl as well as a salmon roll for Pietro. He was going to eat it and I didn't care if he said he was too full or some shit like that he was gonna eat it and I was gonna make sure he ate the whole thing.
I walked into the street admiring the beautiful buildings surrounding me. I'd always dreamed of coming here and to think I was living here would make 15-year-old me scream with joy. I hadn't cared where I was until now. I loved cities they were just so much more fun than small towns and villages.
I walked down the busy pavement shoving people who tried to push past me. I was admiring some of the buildings when I noticed something shining on top of one of the run-down buildings. Occasionally the flash would disappear and then return. I knew exactly what the was. A snipper.
I stayed still locating the exact building they were located in. I crossed the busy road heading down a slim alleyway. I was hidden from the sniper and started storming towards the building. My curiosity was getting to me but I was dying to know who it was and if I was a target or not. I walked into what had to be a rundown apartment complex. No one was in the lobby and the paint on the walls was slowly peeling off. The sound echoed through the building of people arguing, banging, and conversations. Everything could be heard.
My heels creaked against the wooden floorboards as I headed toward the set of stairs. The building was tall and I knew I had about another 20 more flights of stairs to walk up.
By the time I reached the 18th floor my feet were killing me and my heels had constantly fallen into several holes. I refused to take them off as there no way was I get splinters on my feet.
I reached the top floor and the door to the room was wide open. A man who looked around my age was lying down on the ground fiddling with the gun in his hands.
