A sharp rap on the door shattered the silence, pulling me from my pre-concert prep. I reached for the handle, it swung open, revealing a casually dressed Namjoon. He tossed his shoes aside with the ease of someone entering his own home, walking over the window, his gaze snagging on the breathtaking cityscape visible.
"Well, hello!"
"Wow," he breathed, a genuine smile warming his features. "This is a great view. Ours is similar, but with a bit more... 360 degrees." The playful glint in his eyes sent a jolt through me. He was here, casually hanging out in my hotel room, the reality of the situation a little dizzying.
"Make yourself at home," I blurted out, the words tumbling from my lips before I could filter them. The surprised look on his face quickly melted into amusement.
"It's cool," he drawled, his voice a soothing rumble. "You can work anywhere, right?"
"Right," I echoed. His easygoing manner, the way he effortlessly charmed the room, put me at ease despite the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
My stomach rumbled then, a very real reminder of the approaching concert and the fact that I hadn't eaten yet. "Actually," I began, forcing myself to meet his gaze, "I was just about to order some room service. Starving, you know?"
He walked over to the table, his eyes scanning the menu with genuine interest. "Don't mind if I join you. Been craving a good burger all day."
"A burger? That's funny. Its too bad you guys can't exactly hit up a regular joint. There's this amazing Town Burger place down the street..."
"The struggle of being famous, but hey, I wouldn't mind some room service and company."
Suddenly, an idea struck me. Reaching for my phone, I opened the food delivery app. "What about this?" I offered, holding the screen up for him to see. "They have Monster burgers!"
His eyes widened in delight. "Monster burgers?"
"Yup. Basically, a burger with everything on it. Delivery too."
"That's genius!" he exclaimed, his excitement infectious. Taking the phone from me, he scrolled through the menu with the fervor of a kid in a candy store. "Alright, one Monster burger, one chicken burger with a side of fries and onion rings, and a root beer to wash it all down."
I couldn't help but laugh at his childlike glee. "You sure that's all?" I teased.
He paused, a thoughtful frown creasing his brow. "Wait, do they have milkshakes?"
"Of course they do! How about a strawberry milkshake?"
"Perfect!" he declared, handing the phone back to me. "You're a lifesaver. I'll text one of the security guys to collect it downstairs. No need for you to make a grand entrance."
A thrill shot through me as he pulled out his phone, the casual intimacy of the scene sending making happy. As he settled into a chair across from me, a comfortable silence descended, punctuated only by the excited tapping of his fingers on the armrest.
The world outside the hotel room faded away, replaced by the warmth of his presence and the promise of a shared pre-concert feast.
Curiosity gnawed at me, and I nudged him playfully. "So, how's Yoongi doing?"
"Embarrassed, to say the least," he admitted, his voice low and conspiratorial.
A pang of sympathy shot through me. "I kind of feel bad for him," I confessed, unable to completely stifle a giggle.
Namjoon chuckled. "Yeah, well, we've all been there, haven't we?" The playful jab instantly put me at ease, reminding me of the normal guy hidden beneath the superstar persona.
