Amelia's POV

"So, you're really going to meet up with him tonight?" Mollie asked as we sat in one of the many restaurants of hospitality.

Today was media day, and we had both been called in to promote and to interview. I had quite a relaxed schedule for today, with the events of the weekend hotting up as we reached Sunday. I had already been gifted the experience of a few hot laps with Charles this morning, and that was enough excitement for one day.

"I guess so." I pondered as I placed my fork into the stack of pancakes in front of me. "I just need to talk to him. Every time we talk we argue and make snide comments. I need to be honest with him."

"And what is your truth?" Mollie tilted her head as she placed some butter onto the edge of her knife and prepared to smear it across the toast canvas.

"That I'm finding this very hard." I stated with a mouth full of pancake. "That I'm not going to be Heidi's bridesmaid and I won't be going to their wedding. That I'm going to step down after this season and focus on my acting career. I love it here and I love the sport, but I think that I've overstayed my welcome."

"Smart girl." Mollie smiled as she placed the warm slice of toast beside her. "I won't be coming back myself next year." She stated confidently as she reached for her cup of coffee.

"Really?" I asked as I continued to chew my food. "What's changed your mind?"

"You." Mollie said calmly as she placed her drink down and settled into her seat, looking directly across at me.

"Me?" I queried as I also stopped my actions, just to sit and look at my friend.

Mollie nodded before taking a deep breath. "The last time you left, I didn't come running after you. I hardly spoke to you and I just carried on as if nothing happened. That was wrong of me, I should've been a better friend to you."

"Mollie, that was a long time ago." I told her. "I need you to forget about it so we can move on."

"I can't forget about something that I feel so horrible for doing." Mollie told me in confidence. "Plus, I'd like to stay in the same country for more than five minutes."

"I agree. This travelling business is hard." I said in an exaggerated voice.

"Charlie called me the other day." Mollie revealed as I let my giggles die down as I absorbed her news. "He misses me.

"Mol, he misses your pussy." I said out loud, causing some glances from around the hospitality restaurant. "I know you really like him, but he can't give you what you need."

"He said that he's changed." Mollie said in a hopeful tone. "He told me that since I've been gone, it's put things into perspective for him. He says that he misses me more than ever and that he was stupid to try and keep things casual between us."

I watched my friend as she had a beaming smile on her face. I knew she was naive at times, but the way she spoke about Charlie was like watching a child speak about their fake wedding that had taken place that very day on the school playground.

She had been in love with Charlie for years and he was always on the scene for when she needed. To begin with, she enjoyed the casual sex and felt exhilarated that Charlie had chosen her for that role in his life.
