Amelia's POVAs soon as Montreal was done, where Daniel scored ten points for Renault; a decent weekend was had.
On top of the successful weekend, Daniel had not been approached by Cyril regarding money, and Gerhard was no where to be seen. It was confusing to us as to why Gerhard had pulled the plug just like he had once promised.
Maybe he could see Daniel doing well, and presumed that removing his money would be a waste. He has the chance to make more money from his investment, and it would be a stupid idea to remove that now.
However, we didn't want to dwell over what could or couldn't happen. Daniel was adamant about moving on and even suggested that he tried to move teams for next season.
"So, what do you think?" Daniel asked as he tilted his head to the side the gauge my reaction as he drove down the road, his large hands gripping at the steering wheel. "I could look for another seat, elsewhere, one that won't be jeopardised by my ex father-in-law."
"That sounds like a good idea and all, but where would you go?" I asked as I looked back at him before he turned away to look at the road again.
"Well, a little birdy told me that AlphaTauri is looking." Daniel suggested with a hum.
I shook my head, "It's your career and your decisions, but I feel like that may potentially be a step down for you. You've told me before that even Renault is a little bit of a step down."
"Yes, but I couldn't stay at Red Bull for a moment longer." Daniel interjected. "Did you honestly think that I wanted to work for your uncle after everything that happened?"
"Of course not." I agreed. "I admire the fact that you left, I get it now. However, you're on good terms now, wouldn't it be worth an ask?"
Daniel chuckled to himself as we pulled up towards a red light. "I don't want the media to paint an incorrect picture. If I move back to Red Bull, people will be two and two together and make five."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean that people will only believe that I earned my seat back at my former team because I'm fucking the boss' niece." Daniel said abruptly as he started to drive again once the light had changed to green. "I don't want people thinking that of me, Mi. I want people to know that I've earned my position."
"I'd say that you are earning your place." I reacted to his previous statement. "You're managing to place that yellow car in the points every week, you've been on the podium several times now. If people don't understand by now that you're one of the best drivers in the grid, they never will."
Daniel blushed briefly as his wide smile played out on his face. "You think that I'm one of the best?"
I smiled back as my cheeks started to blush. "Well, yeah."
Daniel's hand moved from the steering wheel and onto my lap, where he located my own hand, and linked them together. He picked up my hand and moved it to his mouth, where his soft, plump lips placed a delicate kiss onto the back of my hand.
"You're so cute, love." Daniel spoke softly as he focused on driving the car.
We hadn't spoken about the situation since, as Daniel was mulling it over in his own mind, as well as Blake, as he ran round like a headless chicken most days to try and find the best possible outcome for the man he was managing.
