"Where are you heading off to." Nezu had called me to his office at the end of the school day. He was neatly packing up a variety of things around his office, clearly getting ready to leave the school. This was strange as typically he stays an hour after school to finish up on extra work.
"Well Aizawa, the police station apprehended a strange child this morning. They can't seem to find out much about him, so they called me in to see if I can help connect the dots."
"And you called me to..." I say, failing to see how this involves me.
"I was informed that the child seems to have an aggressive reaction when faced with mutant type quirk users. In order to prevent the child from feeling scared, I need someone to go in and question the child on my behalf." I nod in realization before grimacing at the extra work. I just spent an entire day with children. Going to spend more time with one does not seem fun. "Splendid, let's get going." Nezu cheerfully walked out the door. I followed close behind him, eventually getting into a car.
"What do you want me to ask?" I say, once we got in the car.
"Just the basics to make sure his story holds up. The child talked to Detective Tsukaushi, but the information seemed to be incorrect. There is no record of any of the places he talked about. He's been with a CPS worker all day. He seems to be adjusting just fine, other than the attempt to harm the chief of police early in the day, nothing bad has happened."
"What did the child say?" It's best I know the answers beforehand to fully assess the situation.
"The child reports that his name is Gon Freecss and 13. He said that he lives on Whale Island with his Aunt Mito, but that he left the island to get stronger. That's all we know." I nod as the car comes to a stop. We get out of the car and walk in through the doors, getting greeted by the receptionist almost immediately.
"Hello, I'll call Detective Tsukaushi over."
"No need." Tsukaushi waves a hand as he walks towards us. "Thank you for coming, Nezu, Earserhead."
"It's no trouble at all." Nezu responds. "I've already briefed Aizawa."
"Great, then let's go to the observing room." Tsukauchi leads us to the observing room. Once inside, I looked down through the one sided mirror, a child was sitting at a table, happily coloring with a CPS worker. "That's Gon Freecss. He is surprisingly cheerful despite the situation." A bright smile was stretched across the child's face, his legs swinging while talking about what he was drawing. "He is lacking some basic essential knowledge such as the knowledge of heroes and quirks. We thought at first, amnesia, but he's been able to answer a variety of questions that would disprove that theory. We are now thinking he grew up in extreme isolation due to the lack of common knowledge." I nod at the additional information.
"I'll go down there then." I say, walking out of the observation room. I walk towards the door where Gon Freecss is and give a slight tap. The CPS worker opens the door for me, and I step through the doorway.
"Gon, this is Pro-"
"I'm Mr. Aizawa. It's nice to meet you." I cut her off. The pro hero title wouldn't give this kid any security, it would most likely just add to his confusion.
"Hi! I'm Gon Freecss. It's nice to meet you Mr. Aizawa." A bright smile was directed my way causing a small smile to tug at the corners of my lips. I walk over and sit across from Freecss at the table he is sitting at.
"So Freecs, I have a few questions for you." A hand goes up signaling me to stop.
"I go by Gon." I nod, not questioning the request.
