"So what's your plan?" I say as I walk into the observing room. I hand Nezu a piece of paper with Gon's address and Leorio and Ging's phone numbers. Nezu promptly hands them to Tsukaushi, who steps out of the room to try and call the two numbers on the piece of paper.

"The CPS worker is trying to see if there is a home available. If not, he'll be sent to a group home for tonight. Of course, the best scenario is that we find someone who knows him, but it seems unlikely right now." Nezu looks down into the room, watching Gon as he starts to color again. "He sure is peculiar. There isn't any information about him in any system we have access to."

"He doesn't seem to be trying to hide anything. He's pretty trusting." Nezu nods. "There is something I've been meaning to ask." Prompting Nezu to turn towards me. "What happened with the chief of police? You mentioned that something happened."

"Ahh. Apparently he attempted to attack him. The police managed to separate them, but he still seemed pretty upset afterwards. He talked for a little bit on how he thought all the 'chimera ants' were gone, and that he needed to kill the ant so nothing bad happens." Nezu pauses. "His hatred to mutant quirks was actually how he was found. He was found on the outskirts of the city, attempting to attack some people with mutant quirks. Thankfully, a pro hero was around to stop the attack." Nezu looks down at a sheet of paper, presumably a report of the incident. "The pro said that Gon was too strong to restrain, and the only way he calmed him down was by saying that he would deal with the ants."

"Chimera ants, huh? Do you know anything about them?" I ask Nezu.

"I do not. I'm assuming it's a mix of organisms, one being an ant. I didn't get anything when I looked it up unfortunately."

"So we really don't know anything about the boy." I sigh in defeat.

"I'm back." A door clicks behind me.

"Any luck?" I ask, hopeful. Tsukauchi shakes his head no.

"One was a pizza place and the other wasn't connected. The address is not good either." A faint knock was heard at the door shortly after Tsukauchi broke the news. Tsukauchi opens the door, finding the CPS worker there.

"There is one house willing to take him, but the whole family has mutant quirks. This is probably the best case scenario even though it's obvious some sort of trauma has occurred by the hands of mutant quirk users. I think he might feel more comfortable if someone that he has talked to comes with for the meeting."

"Aizawa, why don't you go?" Nezu volunteers me. I accept because I don't really have a choice. Nezu would've found a way to convince me if I said no.

"Fine." I say, walking out of the room to grab Gon. "Gon, we found someone that will let you stay with them." Gon bounced out of his chair with that.

"Really?!" He asked, walking over towards me with a slight bounce in his step.

"Yup, let's go." We walk to the car with the CPS worker, settling in for the short ride.

"Hi Ms. Azumi." Gon said to the CPS worker, who's name I learned is Azumi.

"Hi, Gon." She smiles. "Are you ready?"

"Yup! I'm really excited."

"That's good." She said as the car pulled to a stop. The family was already outside to greet us. I move to get out of the car, but I'm stopped by a suffocating presence. Gon had his eyes locked on the family.

"Why are there so many chimera ants alive? I thought I killed them all." I chose to ignore the last statement, focusing instead on how to safely get out of this situation.

"Gon, chimera ants don't exist here."

"They don't?" The presence dims a bit, allowing me more space to breathe.

"No. This family has mutant abilities. I can assure you that they won't harm you." Gon looks me in my eyes. The sudden depth of his eyes becomes apparent. His eyes weren't one of a childs, but one that has seen death countless times. It took everything in me to maintain the contact as fear slowly overtook me.

"You promise." He breaks eye contact; I take a gulp of air at the release of pressure.

"I promise." Gon opens the car door, taking a spot next to Azumi. Hiding behind her like the child he is. Azumi wraps her arm around Gon and pushes him forward slightly, causing Gon to step backwards, just out of reach of Azumi. Gon's was in a slight defensive position. Almost like he was anticipating a fight. I put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, causing his stance to slip slightly.

"Hello. Thank you for answering on such short notice." Azumi speaks in a familiar tone. "This is Gon Freecss."

The woman crouches down to Gon's level. "Hello, Freecss. I'm Ms. Hinata." I see Gon's eyes widen, but I can't tell if it's from fear or relief. Gon remains silent.

"Would you like to stay out here, or I can show you around the house?" Silence. His eyes showed clear signs of hatred.

"I'll trust you, but..." Gon directs all his attention toward the family. "Just know I can kill you in a second." It wasn't something the family could just laugh off. It was a clear threat to their life. I couldn't leave Gon with them in good conscience. Ordinarily I coud, but Gon was no normal kid, and I know that Gon would act on the words if the family fell out of his favor.

"I don't think this is a good fit." I step in. The family agreed. They must've felt the same pressure that overcame me in the car. "Let's go, Azumi." Azumi looked confused. She must've been out of reach of the immense pressure that Gon directed outwards.

"But..." I didn't let her continue, just took Gon's hand and got back into the car. "What is this all about?" She said once she got into the car.

"I'll talk to you once we get back to the police station." I didn't want to discuss this with Gon in earshot.

"Mr. Aizawa doesn't want them to die." Gon answers, looking at the family through the window.

"Why would they die?"

"Because I would kill them."

"Why would you do that?" Azumi asked with concern.

"I would only do it if they tried anything. If you trust them that much, then you don't have to worry about any harm coming to them." Gon said, perking up slightly. He talked about death and killing so casually. I don't think he would do well in any traditional setting. As they arrived, Gon was taken back to the interrogation room he was previously in.

"You came back fast." Nezu said as I walked into the observation room.

"Yah." I look down at Gon. His child like presence returning to him.
