Ferit POV
Sinan and I walk up to the stage at our press conference. "Ladies and gentlemen and press, thank you for joining me today as I make a significant announcement. It is with great excitement and a touch of nostalgia that I share with you all my decision to embark on a new chapter in my professional journey. I'm starting a business with Sinan, away from my family. For many years, my family has been my pillar of support and it is time that I take my own entrepreneur step. It was not an easy choice but I am excited to embrace the future with optimism and determination. We will now allow three questions."
Press 1: "Rumors say that you are having issues with your mother and that is why you are going to start your own firm... is that true Mr. Aslan?"
"I would like to clarify that the rumors regarding issues with my mother leading to this are not true. This decision is based on personal aspirations, and I am grateful for the support of my family and friends."
Press 2: "How will you mother handle the Aslan business after your abrupt exit?"
"Before I took over the business my parents handled all the business dealings. I'm confident that this transition will not be an issue with their daily proceedings. She also has Hakan" I smirk thinking of how useless my cousin is.
Press 3: "What about your personal love matters, Mr. Aslan? Ms. Pinar's restaurant has been thriving. Could her entrepreneurship be the reason you want to start your own company?"
"As much as Nazli is an inspiration to me and her success brings me joy, my decision to start this company was not influenced by her. I'm thrilled to be partnering with Sinan and am committed to making this venture a success." While I was tempted to stoop to my mother's level, I resisted the urge. Following the advice of my public relations specialist, I am bringing these conversations back to business to prevent the press from investigating Nazli dad.
The press have tried to ask further questions but Sinan and I walked off. Once in our new office, I call our public relations representative and work on all the possibilities that my mother could possibly attack Nazli, the business, or me. It took us hours to come with a solid game plan but it was worth it.
Two weeks later...
As I moved to shut my office door, I was surprised to find my mother standing there. With a sigh, I asked, "What are you doing here?" She met my gaze and spoke softly, "Ferit, I understand your anger towards me. But please know that I was only trying to look out for you and our family's well-being." I shook my head in disbelief.
"What well-being are you referring to? You're the only one in our family who prioritizes societal norms. You judged Nazli based on her income and upbringing, not on who she is. If you had just given her a chance, you would see how amazing she is."
"Ferit, please come back. I've missed you so much. Please, come back," she pleaded, trailing after me as I made my way to my parked car. "Mother, I believe you've expressed your thoughts. I will not back down when it comes to Nazli," I stated firmly.
"Ferit, but-" she began, but I cut her off. "I plan to marry her and build a long life. If you can't accept that then there is no point for us to keep talking." With that, I opened the car door and drove away.
----***----
"Pierre, I have my eye on a 3-carat gold diamond engagement ring," I mention as I browse through the various options. The array of engagement rings leave me feeling a bit overwhelmed.
"3 carats for a woman with a distinguished man like yourself?!" Pierre says shocked
"If it were up to me, I would buy her a ring thats visible from Mars, but the woman who owns my heart prefers something more subtle."
