bae aera had developed many fears in her life. fear of death, fear of spiders, fear of doves (don't ask), fear of- you know what you probably get the point by now.
but as a cupid, her biggest fear was without a doubt being stripped of her wings and title in the world of love.
now i know, this sounds crazy. cupid? wings? what kind of fantasy shit are you talking about? we can get into that later, but the main problem right now was that aeras worst fear was currently coming to life.
or at least that's what she thought.
she groaned as an excruciating pain began to spread all throughout her back, waking her up from her deep slumber. her vision was blurry when she opened her eyes, the sound of cars and music and other random noises she wouldn't usually hear when she was in the comfort of her room immediately filling her ears.
then there was the realization that she wasn't in the comfort of her room, and instead somewhere dark and gloomy.
another painful groan rang through the air, as well as a cry, but not from her. there was someone else in the same pain as she was somewhere near her, but she was too busy worrying about why the hell she was in this random place and why her back hurt so much where her wings had been to care about them.
"dove?" the other person groaned out, and immediately she knew who it was. "little dove is that you?" not only was the voice familiar, but absolutely no one other than the person she had in mind called her that specific, annoying, nickname.
"soyeong?" she groaned out, trying her best to sit up without inflicting more pain. she had no idea what it was rooting from or why she was in so much pain, nor did she know where the hell they were.
"what the hell is going on!?" soyeong cried out, pushing himself to sit up as well. the minute they met eyes, it was clear what was happening- or what had happened.
"oh my god," aeras jaw hung open as her vision began to blur again. she swore she was gonna pass out in that moment, but nothing was gonna stop her from standing to stumble to where soyeong was sitting and drop to her knees beside him. "oh my god, oh my god." she muttered, turning him around so she could get a better look at his back.
"this isn't real," soyeong coughed out, moving his hand backwards to pat his back. "this isn't- no! no! what the hell!" he exclaimed in utmost horror, desperately feeling around his back.
"what happened!? why is this happening!?" aera sobbed, holding her cheeks with shaky hands. she couldn't believe anything was real, nothing was real right now.
"this is just a nightmare. i'll wake up soon." soyeong breathed out, curling into himself with wide eyes.
they were too far in shock to even realize that someone had pushed a metal door open and began walking towards them. it wasn't until someone placed a blanket on their shoulders that they realized there was an old lady with a grimace standing above them.
